Just the prologue for now, great writing as usual. Who is the alchemist?

Man these last 2 chapters really upset me. Kyoshi was shown to be a force to be reckoned with at the beginning of this book but all we’ve seen from her is weakness so far. How do you let Yun get away again after carrying the burden from the devastation he caused the first time? The burden that you’ve been having trouble coming to terms with. She knew the plan, had him dead to rights and did nothing. 3/5 stars rn

I’m upset that we are still waiting for this Kuruk plot to climax, I’m still enjoying it though. I feel the knowledge it will reveal is crucial to Kyoshi’s development and I don’t want the ending to be rushed, considering I have about 150 pages left. I didn’t expect Yun to double cross glowworm. I’m glad he didn’t willingly merge with him no questions asked, that would’ve been questionable. 3.5/5 sofa

Okay I was going to put this book down for the day but I ended up busting out 50 more pages. I worry for Rangi’s mental health, she seems to be spiraling with anxiety. I’m VERY curious to see how the conversation with Kuruk will go, if it doesn’t happen then that’ll suck. Overall, it kind of slowed down again in these 50ish pages but I’m sure things are going to ramp up here right around the corner!

Wow what do I say so far? The first fifty-ish pages started off very slow for me, but once we arrived at the fire nation and reunited with Rangi, it picked up VERY quick. I’m excited to explore more of the spiritual side of Kyoshi, and her place politically among the world. Things we didn’t explore in the first book. Great so far, has the potential to be better than the first! What’s up Yun?👀

I like seeing this inner conflict with Kyoshi. Now that she has opened herself up to Rangi, and her other new found friends, she’s starting to lean away from her feeling of revenge on Jianzhu. Lao Ge and Rangi act as the devil and angel on her shoulders pulling her in different directions with where she should go as the Avatar and with the act of killing. Awesome writing and details!

So do you have to physically be born in the next nation of the avatar cycle to be the avatar? or do you have to be born of that nation’s kin? It’s a cool concept that Kyoshi is half Air Nomad and Half Earth Kingdom, but that thought puzzles me. Kyoshi is such a relatable character, and she’s very well written. This is great so far!

This book is great so far, read over 100 pages in a single session! Loving the characters.
