The shadow princeling who could easily be King filled with self-loathing and surrounded by a (literal) army of loyal soldiers + the Fae healer ostracized but taken advantage of for her magic = ahhh absolute obsession. Can’t freaking wait for them to meet. How am I already in love with Owain? Must’ve been that spicy art from Astoria’s newsletter 🥵

Just finished chapter 2 with Lunette’s POV one wowowow I love her already. Healing magic is one of my faves (Sakura/Tsunade fans anyone?) and this world is so dark and bleak and kinda terrible but the writing is so good - love the juxtaposition in the POVs laced with the commonalities. So so into this already. I’m highlighting every other paragraph

Just finished chapter 1 and am digging the meets dark fantasy vibes. So far it’s quite gritty and bleak and the author does an excellent job at helping me empathize with the male MC while building out the world (I haven’t read the first book bc this is supposed to be an interconnected standalone) so I’m new to this world!

This book has NO right to be so feet-kicking good. I can’t stop giggling or blushing or flipping the page to keep reading and reading and reading. Seriously the best cozy crack I’ve read in awhile. Hit the spot exactly. And they’ve just been PINING (in their own ways) this whole time 🥰

Let me just say that I adore the setting many of the themes but I’m really struggling to connect with the story for the last 15-20 percent but dinner party drama? I am SAT.

Things are decidedly LESS cozy and more stressful high stakes. Man I am on a roller coaster here. I find it pretty easy to anticipate what will happen next but there’s just enough mystery to the world overall that I’m invested enough to keep learning more/reading

The book started off slow and a little angry but I’m really into it now. The romance is increasing and I feel like I’m in a cozy slice of life Romantasy anime. Lots of coffee, reading, and painting in the library of a powerful lord’s estate…and can’t forget darling Quilliam! Feeling a 4 star rating on this one 💖

Just finished chapter 1 and feel like I have a good understanding of the circumstances, the stakes, and the general setup. King Elias is totally to blame for the problems. His laws are terrible. Good riddance.

I’m struggling. Idk if it’s the audio format but there are so many contradictory things and statements that don’t add up that break the immersion. Like we spend a whole chapter pining over someone and hear about the torment they go through in their routine training sessions but then the other pov she says she she avoids him at all costs and a bunch of other contradictory stuff so is it just unreliable nar or ??

I am LOVING this magic system! Seriously the inked tattoo magic. The crest and different customs between lands. The Forced Proximity and the constant action/adventure tension that comes with the mission. I def feel the mummy vibes and it feels like the two MCs are constantly evaluating, probing, bantering and butting heads in the most fun way. I’ve been wanting a Naruto/ninja fic and this is kinda giving it to me
