So i started this and the writing is cute but not what I'm in the mood for atm so I will make this a casual background read to have when the mood strikes for a whimsical, playful writing style. It is targeted for adults but also meant for the author's daughter to enjoy (who I assume is younger) so I will make sure I'm primed with the proper perspective when going in!

OOH! This has me very engaged! I am vibing with the FMC Saige. SO MUCH good stuff and potential - i cant wait to see where this goes. I already did not predict like 80% of the happenings so far so thats fun!! I can already tell Hadeon will be trouble and Agathea could be used as a plot device for various purposes but WE SHALL SEE!

GUYS! Chapter 25 is HOTTT and ROMANTIC and so so steamy. I loev how poetic and symbolic every little thing in this book is but especially this chapter. UGH! and the VO artist - her voice is delightful to listen to and had me blushing a few times. LOVE Rory's devotion and Sybil's EVERYTHING. swoon~~~

Very good. Very interesting- the AOT vibes are strong at this point and even knowing that I have still been surprised by the twists!!

Putting this book in visual read vs binge read. I’m really enjoying the story and there are def some gruesome parts but love the FMC so much. She’s thoughtful, strategic, levelheaded and a little sheltered in some regards. She’s accustomed to the dark side of things and has a stoicism I admire due to her strong “historian” identity. It’s the crux of who she is and I LOVE a character with this detail.

What a c**t, poor lil Benji…lmao serves them right. Conniving lil monsters! Hehehe so funny. That’s right! Show them how it’s done! Nooooo Bartholomew!!! Fuck yeah, GO SYBIL GOOOOO. 😡🥹💪🫣

Ahh I can’t stop listening! Def a five star binge read - maybe even a six star. So many amazing things but no spoilers!!!

The shenanigans that have ensued for the first 1/4 of this are so diabolical. I ADORE gargoyle and while I do miss the OG version of his voice I’m enjoying the new VO. The longing and memory stuff is WILD + the missed moments are very GOT. Im in awe of the blend of poetry, horror/darkness, humor, and complexity that Gillig has written. I LOVE Sybil but Rory’s chapters have been so funny and thrilling to read.

Am I confused sometimes? Yes. Am I struggling to keep up with what’s going on? Also yes. Do I mind? Not one bit! For some reason I am RIVETED by this story. The FMC is my fave. I love love love her and how sneaky she is. She’s playful but kinda immature sometimes. there’s a good balance though with fierceness + intellect, I’m really intrigued by the world building, politics, and slowww burn romance (so good)

Making slow and steady progress on this one. I love the pen. Ilene’s pen is a great tool not just for writing but also as an expression of her character. It holds a lot of symbolism and the author + Ilene wields it masterfully.

Wow ok the male VO has grown on me and I can forgive the Bartholomew voice bc damn this writing is just so good and it’s so funny and my expectations can take a back seat while I’m swept along for a riveting ride. I found myself giggling out loud while making dinner to the shenanigans that have already begun

Listening to the audio bc I LOVE the VO artist from her performance for book 1. It was SUCH a magical first chapter. Her voice has this…gravitas + soothing nature to it that keeps me incredibly engaged & love the way she reads the poetic, poignant writing by Rachel G. One of my fave things was how she did Bartholomew’s voice so I was SHOCKED to hear a man’s vo when I started chapter 2. Not sure I like it 😭

I haven’t listened or read this for weeks. I feel like I only keep (begrudgingly) going due to 60% fomo and 40% hope - there’s a lot to love and cool stuff but I am STRUGGLING to enjoy the writing style and stay invested. I think it’s time to let this book go for now despite not wanting to…but I also avoid reading it sooo yeah gotta let go for now.

I have devoured this book in under 24 hours. I think I’m sick from all the smiling, giggling, and tooth achingly sweet fluffy romance that Henry and Clara have fake dated their way into. 1000% must read this book if you like small town, sweet, romances or in separate neeed of some cozy crack

Excuse me? How is this so adorably cute??? Tbh I am picturing a Naruto MMC here - clumsy sunshine boy who manages to charm everyone? Then the FMC is def giving eldest daughter vibes. I devoured the first quarter of the book in one sitting bc I could not put it down

UPDATE: Since leaving a DNF review I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the story so I switched to ebook and am loving it. Blewe through 20% in one sitting. And the spice!!! Ahhhh. Isa is def more likable now and Eryn is my new fave character!!!

I thought I’d be reading this 2 weeks ago but here we are dayyzzz b4 release and finally getting to one of my most anticipated arcs- already digging the mother goddess and list of deities

I’m having a really hard time staying engaged. I REALLY wanna like this there are a lot of good ingredients but it’s all falling a little flat for me 🥲 I’ll keep listening to the ALC to see if I feel more invested

Oooh the drama and stakes are heating up a TINY bit - this is still very much a low stakes, indulgent read full of spice, fluffy affection, and self-healing.

There is a poetic nature to the book but especially in the way that Airida speaks and his POVs I love it - it’s tender, a little bittersweet at times, gentle and so fun when it turns a little steamy.

Ahhhh, they’re so cute together! I feel like there’s been a lot of setup for angstiness so I hope we stay complicatedly fluffy and sweet and spicy. 🥰

Again, not sure if the dissonance is with the format (ALC) but I’m not as into the FMC. She kinda reminds me of the chick in Starside. She’s constantly complaining and whining about stuff which can be entertaining (it was early on) but it’s gotten wearisome and overdone. She’s JUST now showing a change in character. It all feels very performative. Also The MMC is bland to me not intriguing. Rly wanna love it

Excuse me? How am I already ~1/3 of the way through the book? I feel like I just started… like the time just flew by! Omg, this is such a cute, creative, and respectfully steamy. I absolutely LOVE Imani. Her inner dialogue and POVs are my fave to read but our nerdy little alien boy with his slutty glasses is fun - so so awkward and endearing. I luv him too. The customs, world-building, and lore is PERFECTION!

Been feeling pretty mixed but NOW it’s getting interesting enough to overlook the dissonance I feel as I listen to the ALC. I’m INTRIGUED!

Aawwww how’s things cute already?? We have a nerdy, artsy, very DEVOUT alien male coming to terms with his new situation and he is kinda petulant so it’s been funny/entertaining if not a little sad. I hope he finds joy on the new planet!

Lmao Oromon is so funny - wondering if he willl be in one of the interconnected standalone! I love the relationships that Cassia has built and while I’m having a hard time following some of the logic for this angsty circumstances, I’m still enjoying the story. Def a four star read.

The Bloundbound dynamic with the mission based system and interland politics + MMC and healer FMC remind me a lot of Naruto. It’s not a 1:1 at all but if you like Naruto - especially Anbu Kakashi, then I think you will like this. I’m Mixed on the FMC - initially the rebellious, whiny, + self-loathing inner monologues were somewhat entertaining but now I grow weary of it. I Assume this is part of her arc though

Lmao - I love Anuck. I’ve been having such a good time casually reading this. Even though I’m auuuper into it I like that I can have it as a casual comfort read (kinda like a cozy slice of life anime) rather than feel the anticipation and stress of a binge read. That doesn’t mean I’m NOT thinking about it or even eager to keep reading, it just means it gives instead of takes (much like Ark)
