Reading(listening to the audiobook) of this after reading even just 1.75 of Holly Black’s other faerie-verse (this is ALL in the same universe best believe other character do actually show up here from them… as a treat) really does give you the absolute purest sense of the word (pun intended) that this book is the start of Black’s magnum opus run for faeries ❤️💁‍♀️

A bit slow at the start but makes sense for Holly Black’s (to my knowledge) second ever faerie book (The Darkest Part Of The Forest being the first) - when it really picked up it’s such a hook in!

I don’t know how the godly holly black was so interested in reading this book when it came out

I feel like this book is going around and taking me in circles to the same point and close calls ALL THE TIME

This might be a controversial opinion but honestly the worth of getting a hardback to me is only if it’s a super old book and you’re thrifting it. Old book smell might not even be worth it in this case… There are exceptions to the rule, obviously, but some people having 10 copies of the exact same book in different editions with nothing else at all added is egregious.
