Frankly, I hate this book and it’s bad compared to the movie, which was at least funny. AI slop is probably more enjoyable to read. The story finally feels like something is happening over halfway through the book the first half was just rambling and the current plot is just… despicable. I get that’s the point, but like the movie really glossed over this bad stuff and made it funny instead.

WORM TIME

So far, I’m a lot less invested in the characters compared to the first two novels. Leto is less inspiring than Paul, but this preacher character is so interesting. A return to the “old ways” and ending this zealous vision of Muad’ib is so cool, and I liked the foreshadowing of Leto’s meeting with the preacher. Alia being a villain makes sense.

It’s so interesting watching the story evolve into a political thriller that almost reminds me of schemes for the iron throne in Game of Thrones. Paul’s increasing instability and loss of his humanity into the will of the universe shows his static character and his inability to change.

It’s high time I locked back in! Interesting references and world building so far with references to Earth’s infamous dictators.
