Started reading about a decade ago and stopped halfway through. Unsure if I’ll finish. It’s a biased account.

So far, I’m concerned with Orwell’s portrayal of women. Hoping this turns into a critique. Also, so far, I see this book as less relevant in current times than books like Handmaid’s Tale which show how easy it is for a democratic society to slip into totalitarianism rather than a society that was simply taken over militaristically. Don’t get taken over isn’t as valuable a lesson as don’t slip into it.
