Phil struggles with childcare and touring and everything. He goes back and forth with live aid between Wembley and Philly. He is exhausted and when all is done he wants to go back to New York

Phil gets really big with his own album and helping others. He reflects on his wedding with Jill and his friendship with Eric Clapton. Also discusses his iconic song Easy Lover with Philip Bailey. He reflects on the importance of family as well.

Phil started to produce music. He helped Frida from ABBA and others asked him as well. Phil has success from face value and decides to make another album. It does well because of his Motown covers as to which he questions his ability as a song writer. Genesis makes their albums as well which are successful. Phil wins a Grammy and gets nominated for best original song at the Oscar’s.

The Genesis band mates make their own solo stuff. They come together to make their own stuff as well. Phil works on the duke record and shows his friend who’s a big shot his songs. He tells Phil he needs to make it an album to which he makes face value. Phil asks meets his second wife Jill. The more success that happens Phil feels torn between the two.

Phil’s wife Andy has an affair. Genesis and Phil still record together, but Phil is also in the process of doing his first solo album. He makes his hit “In the Air Tonight” and most of his writing is about his experiences with Andy.

Phil gets married to his first wife Andy and they have a kid. He tours a lot so Andy is by herself taking care of the children. Genesis is making an album and needs vocals and they audition for singers. They have no luck until Phil offers to sing and they thinks it’s rather good. Phil now takes over as lead vocalist for Genesis. The drums was his shield from the audience and now he’s lead singer.

Phil’s father dies and he reflects on that for awhile. Genesis is going on tour, but are actually in a lot of debt from touring and lack of interest. They eventually get to making “The lamb lies down on Broadway” as well. Peter Gabriel tells the others he’s leaving as well.

Phil recalls how he started getting more in tune with Genesis. He talks about how he met Tony, Peter and Mike. Phil lived with Mike and they shortly going on more gigs and tours.

Phil gets a call and has an opportunity to play at Abbey Road. He agreed not knowing who it was only for it to be George Harrison recording his solo post Beatles album. Phil plays drums in the background for it and he is so excited to buy the album when it came out. He’s so happy to only find out later that they used a different mix. 30 years later Phil got a joke tape from George saying that he’s a conga player.

Phil reflects on how he met Ronny and how he was a jobless drummer. He auditioned a lot and got roles in movies as extras. Ultimately he started drumming and also sang. He joined many bands and someone told him he should sing as well as drum, but he wanted to just drum. Phil doesn’t know what’s in store for him until he’s given the right opportunity.

Phil started his musical stuff very young. He took many lessons as he started to grow up. Influenced by acting and piano/drum lessons he started off uniquely. Phil acted in Oliver and loved acting and lost his voice one time only to be his last time. He later acted in Oliver later on. Phil formed a band later on and emulated his favorite band Action. He’s influenced by many drummers who were his heroes now friends.

Phil reflects on his parents marriage. His father was unfaithful as to why he calls himself a hypocrite talking about it. Married three times and divorced 3 as well was what happened to Phil. His father was in insurance and ironically wanted to be singer like Phil, but his father said no. He was the youngest of 3 children as well.

Phil reflects on a concert in 2016 where his ear is shot. He’s done so much touring and is going to be able to play with his 14 year old son. He reflects on all his times touring and all the stuff he wishes he had done.

Pau shares proof of Coffey's innocence with fellow guards and Janice. Janice visits Paul on his night off to talk about John’s execution and the reality of his innocence. Paul stands in for John during an execution rehearsal. Paul visits John alone in his cell before. The guards experience intense moral shame and physical sickness as they prepare for it. John is executed in the electric chair. Paul is very sad.

Janice convinces Paul that the guards already know the heavy truth about John Coffey's impending execution and innocence. Paul breaks his silence and tells his colleagues the horrifying reality that Billy Wharton, not John Coffey raped and murdered the Detterick twins. The group struggles with the reality of executing an innocent, miraculous man whom they have grown to care for.

Hal asks Paul if John’s recent visit to heal Melinda had anything to do with Percy shooting Wharton. Paul lies to spare Hal from guilt over the violent outburst. Paul learns the truth about the Detterick case, realizing an innocent man is going to die. Knowing Wharton committed the crime leaves Paul feeling powerless.

They take a weak Coffey back after all this. Percy finds them and they tell him to shut up and not say anything. John grabs Percy and transfers the sickness to him. Percy goes insane and shoots Wharton. He is inflicted by the tumor leading to him going to Briar Ridge.

Paul is writing his memoir at Georgia Pines. He gets harassed by Brad Dolan again who tells him he can’t be there writing and staying up. Elaine defends him and tells Brad to go away. Paul asks Elaine if she will read what he’s written.

John says that "pieces of them “ are still inside the chair and he can hear them screaming. They bring John into Harry’s pickup truck to begin the trip to Warden Moores' house. Paul questions whether bringing a convicted murderer to the warden's house is a terrible mistake and doubts if Coffey can actually heal Melinda Moores. Moores threatens to shoot until Brutal and Harry step up to explain and protect Coffey.

Paul and the other guards escort John Coffey out of his cell and place him on the gurney used the night before to transport Eduard Delacroix’s body, wheeling him down the dark tunnel as part of their plan to take him to the wardens house.

Dean mixes a sedative into a cup of R.C. Cola, which Paul offers to Wharton under the guise of a reward for good behavior. Brutal forces Percy into submission and lock him in the restraint room. After taping Percy's mouth shut to stop his threats of getting them all fired, the guards return to E Block and release John Coffey from his cell to begin their secret mission.

Paul points out that John lacks the intelligence to do things proving he could not have committed the murder. They plan to break Coffey out of his cell using his miraculous healing abilities to save the warden's dying wife. Janice encourages Paul to take a risk to heal the warden's dying wife. Paul and the guards set their plan into motion to secretly take John out. Coffey says he’d like a ride instinctively.

Paul wakes up and realizes he needs to leave the nursing home to carry out a task in the nearby woods. To distract Dolan, Elaine sneaks into the west wing and smokes a cigarette until she sets off the alarm. Paul slips outside undetected. This distraction mirrors Paul's 1932 memories in Cold Mountainwhere he and the other guards conspired to break John out of his cell on a secret mission to heal the warden's wife.

Hal tells Paul that Percy will be transferred to Briar Ridge within a month, though Paul feels a month is too long. Hal reveals his wife’s brain tumor has worsened and causes her to break out into sudden, severe fits of vulgar swearing. Realizing what Paul is contemplating, Janice excuses herself so he can make a phone call to set their secret plan into motion taking John Coffey out of E Block to heal Melinda.

Paul returns from the Delacroix tragedy to write a report. Wharton starts singing a horrific song. Paul checks on John crying in his cell. He calls out Coffey’s full name and begins taking off his shoe as part of a plan. Paul comes home and cry’s in front of his wife. He dreams of John at night holding a wooden spool, the girls and Paul’s shoe. He says “I couldn't help it" and “I tried to take it back.”

Brutal wants to beat Percy’s ass, but Paul tells him no due to Percy’s social status. Curtis Anderson the acting warden comes down because everyone is upset and the guards tell him about Percy’s doing. The guards use this to force Percy to file a transfer to Briar Ridge mental institution in exchange to get him out of Cold Mountain.

The execution of Delacroix is taking place. Brutal and Paul escort him as a big thunderstorm is happening. They tell him about “mouseville” and Percy taunts Delacroix saying it’s not real. Percy puts a dry sponge on his face instead of a wet one on purpose. Since it’s dry the electricity doesn’t work properly going into the brain. Delacroix suffers a long two minutes and burns alive with witnesses.

Percy, Brutal and Paul get into it. Percy claims he’s been mistreated and not given a chance, but Paul tells him he doesn’t listen to what others have to say. They call him out for stepping on Mr. Jingles, but he claims no one will care. The main point they bring up is how he was frozen when Wharton went well. They all agree that he will stand with Delacroix and apply to go to Briar Ridge.

Paul calls his time green pines time which is when you go crazy. Brad Dolan who works at green pines reminds Paul of Percy since he is mean to him. He asks Paul where he goes to clear his mind and is worried that Paul has a secret. Delacroix’s mouse Mr. Jingles died from Percy stepping on it. John gets it in his cell and revives it with his powers. Coffey states how Percy is bad and everyone is in shock.
