so far i'm mostly enjoying the prose, and the plot/structure is fine i suppose, but i'm not sure how much the framing device works for me and they really zoomed through the beginning of the relationship like there was a page limit

finding out the original title of this book is the same as finding out the name of hp lovecraft's cat......

the reason i don't revisit this one as often as the other two (apart from the fact that it makes me miserable) is that it suffers from skim-drag syndrome aka when historical fiction needs to cover a significant amount of time and as a result large amounts of time pass without consequence while the plot cannot keep up

if i focus on the banter i can ignore the emotional devastation this caused me at 16

I'm really enjoying myself so far but I have read some reviews about The Twist and now I'm extremely wary :/

i ramped up my listening speed from 1.50x to 1.75x we r finishing this TONIGHT

it is rapidly becoming clear to me why i read one (1) thriller every two (2) years and that reason is that i am very scared of everything all the time

idk if it's because i don't read this genre a whole lot, because i'm listening on audio, or because i haven't been sleeping but rn my brain is Soup

let petra have her abortion...damn. i understand the narrative function of her keeping the baby & lavender-marrying harry but also abortion is good, actually

bro how is this only 352 pages...i feel like i'm reading moby-dick or something (in the way that i read the first chapter of md and literally fell asleep)
