It’s been a while since I read, but the plot is really starting to pick up and get interesting. I know I have a lot to go.

NOW we’re getting to the good stuff. I will eat up a gossip session about a rich family. I’m just trying to remember everything.

We have our first spooky occurrence! I need to know the complete Catherine Heathcliff lore because that letter didn’t really give me much. Also, I cannot understand Joseph for the life of me.

So far, I have to say I’m pretty entertained by all the goings-on. Everyone is so mean it has me gagged. I’m excited to get into this.

I’m not finished yet but I have to update. That was a very upsetting sequence to read. I feel like Antwerp is some strange purgatory Theo is stuck in.

I have finished the penultimate chapter of the book. I knew the painting was too good to be true. I just wish it hadn’t been snatched away as quickly as he got it back. I feel empty.

I kind of got emo over Theo finally seeing the painting again after all these years. It’s like walking int your childhood bedroom again and finding everything exactly as you left it.

I didn’t expect the exchange with the painting to be that quick. I know there have to be some weird strings attached because this is too good to be true.

I am determined to finish this book in the next few days. The real real action is starting, and I have not been able to put the book down for hours. I just know he’ll never see that painting again.

This has got to be some of my favorite writing in this book. All these scenes with Theo and Pippa were long overdue, and I’ve missed them together. I really like to hear their perspectives on the attack and how it’s changed them. Gosh, I weep for them.

I have to know how long Tom Cable and Kitsey has been going on, and what the deal is with her friends. Also, I think I finally understand Boris’s process for getting the painting back.

I didn’t really understand a lot of what happened with this Horst guy, but I am glad he and Theo shared a moment when talking about The Goldfinch. God knows where that painting is.

This Kitsey-Theo wedding is literally Top 10 Things That Never Happened. They need to break up effective immediately.

This is the shock of my life. Boris stealing The Goldfinch from Theo was not something I would have even imagined. I knew he was involved with it somehow, but I didn’t know it was to this extent. I’m so floored.

I have been waiting on Boris’s return, and he’s back! This is taking the strangest turn, and I think Theo is going to show him the painting (finally). The rest of this book is going to be like a bad dream, I think.

EXCUSE me… talk about things that I never would have expected to happen. This Theo-Kitsey wedding is in the Top 10 Things That Never Happened List. There is no way it’s real.

This book is getting to be like a bad dream you can’t wake up from, or driving past a car crash not looking away.

It FINALLY happened. I cannot believe Theo has at last gotten busted for owning this painting (even if the guy was wrong). Now I’m waiting for Boris to reappear. I know he will.

This last section I just read has some of the best writing of the book in it. The descriptions of the way Theo has loved Pippa for many years and the last paragraph of section IX were kind of hauntingly beautiful.

This last section was a bit hard to understand with all the conning and antique talk, but I liked the part at the end about Theo’s mother’s bench and Andy.

I am completely shocked and upset. Andy and Mr. Barbour dying in a boating accident was not on my bingo card for this book, and it makes all Mr. Barbour’s seafaring stories and Andy’s hatred of boating seem so eerie now. It makes me sad to see what that family has become.

It’s been a second since I read, but this section I just read is getting into the subject matter I’ve been curious about. I know someone has to find that painting in the storage.

Theo’s life is pretty monotonous and depressing right now, but the mention of the newspaper article about the paintings is intriguing. Also, good to know he hasn’t completely forgotten Boris.

I do not want Theo to end up at boarding school. He needs to live his life for a second. I’m waiting for someone to find out he has the painting because that’s when things will get interesting.

I’m glad Theo is back in New York, no matter how awful the journey is. I knew he’d find his way back to Hobie. Now I’m waiting for someone to find out that he has the painting.

I am sad that Theo and Boris had to part ways. I knew there was unspoken tension between them, so the kiss didn’t surprise me. I am actually getting a little emotional over this book.

Well, I guess Theo is an orphan now! I don’t know what I was expecting to happen but it was NOT this. I knew his dad’s business would catch up with him, but wow. I cannot wait to see how the rest of this plays out. It’s safe to say I’m really invested.
