The characterization of Astarion is really well done in the writing. He's very sensory and notices a lot of specific, small details. I also love his sassy thoughts. I'm interested (and horrified) by his life with Cazador. At this moment I don't know what people have been complaining about, but the plot hasn't picked up yet either

Massive amount of information in the last few chapters, but it's all very interesting (and in terms of the story instead of volume numbers, it's at the beginning of book 2 not the end)

I know what's going on but also I don't know what's going on and that's ok

I recently watched the anime, so I now have an idea where the first novel/first 3 english books are going. I'm more invested now since I want more detail about the world and characters. The anime definitely cut a lot of things out (since book 1 was covered in 3 episodes)
