DNF. This is cringey and poor content. Also the audiobook did not have trigger warnings. That would have massively helped me to realize that rape- and control-fantasy is not my thing and I would have picked something else.

This book better get vengeful QUICK or it’s a DNF for me. It’s very predatory and seems like a forced sex slavery situation and rapey. If she doesn’t start stabbing everyone soon, I’m out. Very heebie-jeebies vibes. 🤮

Sigh… I was enjoying this book. But I’m currently stuck in the loop of “we’re endlessly traveling to unknown lands and brooding and just hating and mistrusting one another for no discernible reason, to go on a mission I have zero information” trope. When half the book is getting to the damn point… 🤦‍♀️

This is such a poorly written book. I don’t know how they wrestled such an amazing broadway show or movie out of this mess. It’s clearly written by a man. It’s the Winchester mystery house of plot lines- lots of them going nowhere, they just trail off or abruptly are abandoned. He’s also obsessed with male satisfaction, random erections, beastialty, and giving absolutely no context. DNF a second time.

I can’t stop reading this, it’s so, so good. But there definitely should have been several trigger/content warnings. I’ll update them in a spoiler-tagged review when I’m done reading

Did she really just stick her tongue out and “see food??” Chaol? Oh I forgot how much I don’t enjoy SJM’s haughty, bitchy, super-human-also-insecure, unhinged, ultra-capable, hesitant, badass, lady-in-distress, RBF leading ladies. The eyerolls aren’t just happening in the book, folks.

Still getting through the flashbacks… 😩

It’s not that it isn’t well written, it’s just that we’re being walked through a meticulous and very detailed description of every moment of every day. And it’s moving slooooooowly. Maybe I’m too impatient for the slow burn. 🤣

I am totally invested. What the hell is going on. There has to be so much meme with so much left to go.

Decided to re-read the whole series, including reading Assassins Blade 4th, and tandem read. Will be listening so here’s to the next 158 hours and 25 minutes of my reading life (after I finish Vera! 💕) I really don’t remember the details of what happened so I anticipate it being mostly all new to me again.

DNF at 40%. I can’t get into the overzealous, undertrained natural sexy badass on a Choose Your Own Adventure quest every day.
