I really appreciated the recap at the beginning of the book. All series should include a quick recap at the beginning. I didn’t realize how much I forgot and I only read the first book like 2 months ago.

DNFing this. It’s so boring. Thought book 3 was going in a different direction. And it’s too YA for me.

No desire to finish this book. Online the theory sounded so interesting, but in reading it really feels like it’s telling you to be a welcome mat to bad behaviour from others simple because “you can’t control them, so let them”. I get that there is more and that’s when the whole “let me” comes it, but I just cannot continue. Can’t relate to this “wisdom”

Book is weird. DNFing. Premise is okay, but the dialogue is clunky and way too many weird pop culture references, fat shaming comments, and mentioning how teachers are “supposed to be dogs (ugly) or else the students (in this case elementary kids) would get ‘the horn’.”

What the actual f***????

DNFING this book. It’s horrible. Reads like a very rushed and extremely underdeveloped Beauty & the Beast retelling. The beginning with the correspondence letters was such a unique twist. But good god! Am I supposed to believe that the FMC just rushed into falling in love and giving her self to the MMC?? Way too rushed and unrealistic

So far, loving it! It’s quirky and funny and well written. Started off with the audio book but I MUCH prefer reading in my own voice. Have books 2 & 3 on hold.

Ugh. 65% of the way through and I just don’t care anymore about this book / series. I hate reading about Chaol/Nesryn (boring), and now I’m annoyed with Dorian too. Is it over yet???

Annotating the heck out of this book. Lots of good stuff, although there have been times when I’ve rolled my eyes.

“When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream.” This quote is essentially the entire premise of the book, and it’s so pretentious. Coelho must have lived a charmed life, or at least one where he had people supporting him through struggles. I wonder how many homeless people would love hearing this “advice”. Religious bullshit to quiet the masses.

DNFing this one. It’s okay, I’m just not in the mood for it I think. Also, it’s very “disturbing”. At this point in the story I needed a hero or for the FMC to be her own damn hero. It’s reading as pretty bleak and depressing, and I need something to lightening it up and it’s just … not.

LOVING THIS BOOK! Dark and mysterious, not even sure if this is a romantasy, but what ever this is classified as - it’s freaking GOOD!

So far I’m really enjoying it. Was a bit boring at first but now that we’re into the faerie world, much more interesting. Still waiting for some spice.

Good so far. Maas really knows how to write, and if this series is her attempt at an epic fantasy, she’s done a damn good job.

Yeesh, this book is very YA… I remember loving the moving and thinking this was one of the only times the movie was better than the book. There’s a lot of high school drama filler in this book. I do like the narrator, and this is the only audiobook I’ve been able to stand the narrator.

The plot is good but the story is boring. Not enough bonding between characters. Better than some books I’ve read but I want MORE. It’s missing some passion, not necessarily spice, but just passion between the characters.

Glad I stuck it out, cause the book is starting to get interesting. I still feel like I know what’s going to happen though. The title gives too much away.

Ehhh… struggling to get into this one. I just feel like this isn’t the type of book I want to read right now. Like I need a really heavy romance, but this is already very political.

Really enjoying this book so far. It’s written well and the story is compelling.

Ugh… I really want to DNF this book. It feels so disjointed. The author obviously knows where she wants the story to end, but I feel like she’s rushing the journey there and it’s so clunky.

Ugh, plot holes: Grim says he was never supposed to marry, that Nightshades don’t marry, then how do you explain the “wedding traditions” Isla asked about, how do you explain that guy being pissed that Isla was wearing such an important family heirloom (necklace)??? Also, all of a sudden they are duelling? It sounds like they had a convo about this but the reader didn’t read anything about it???

First audiobook I’ve listened to. I’m listening only while I do diamond art, which is why I think it works. My mind isn’t too distracted and I can actually follow the story. Gonna take me forever to finish it though. I may move to paperback to finish it.

The writing still feels *very* clunky. Like the author is just plodding along, determined to hash out her plot without caring too much about how she gets there. I am still not getting any connection to either Grim or Oro. Lots of things are happening and it feels really obvious that they are going to end up being big plot points, I wish they were dropped more casually.

I’m only 9% of the way in and the writing is clunky. Isla is just back with Grim and we get no time for her to sit with her emotions or for their relationship to build. So much has happened in just 9% and the plot feels rushed. I wonder why Isla is so distraught about having accidentally killed hundreds to save Grim, but doesn’t understand that if she dies, her people die with her. Where did that plot point go?

Finished the first 2 novellas. Ehhhhh…. I’m tempted to just look up the summary of this book and move onto the next ToG main book. But I won’t. I’ll struggle through this book. I don’t know why, but ToG isn’t hitting like ACOTAR and CC did.

I’m 22% of the way in and I’m 90% sure I’ve already figured out a BIG plot twist. Kinda of sucks if true… I guess I’ve just caught on to Maas’ story telling? I picked up on the clues straight away. Let’s see if I’m right…
