Chapter 9

I'm glad that I started re-reading this because there is so much that I forgot about it!

Finished at: 11:56PM!! Yesterday!!

I got a new record!!!!!!!! 1 hour and 4 minutes ahead of my last record!!

I'm re-reading this again, it's so good and I can't help loving the found family Ana Huang creates in this series!!!

I started this late last night around 11PN, I'm hoping to reach a new record by finishing this in a day or two!

One thing I will say is that I kind of wish I saw more yearning from Alex during their friendship instead of the time-skip. I love Axa so nuch with every re-read of this!! ♡

Finished yesterday at 22:03 AKA 10:03PM!!

I enjoyed this and it's a very unique plot, however it took a while to balance the character dynamics and exploring then with the plot. I think going into this I expected a lot more, this is definitely more character-based and it takes a while for the mystery aspect to pick up speed.

I love the characters and the mystery aspect took me by surprise in the end. It was great!!

It was a good pallet cleanser, but I wish we explored the characters more overall. I think this had so much potential, but it lacked something more. I think delving deeper into them as characters would have helped me understand them better and made it more impactful when it came to development.

Also I kind of feel bad for when she finds out about what he told his manager to get them back into the tournament.

I think I remember why exactly I was scared to go back to contemporary romance, even though I didn't want to admit that, is because I'm frustrated by the rampant misogyny in romance. Why is that women always need to be the sunshine, while men are allowed to have moral complexity? I wish it could go both ways more often.

I feel bad for Cara, I wish we got more insight to her character since she feels like such a fundamental part of the story and Pip's character overall. Yet she is constantly overlooked and everyone doesn't really listen to what she is saying deep down

Oh no, oh, no, no, no, no. I hate this part....this is the one part I genuinely starting crying at last time I read this. I hate the anonymous person for this so fucking much. Neither Pip nor Barney deserve this whatsoever! She did everything right and the least they could have done is check but nope...

Sal and his family deserved so much better than the people who were around him, they are the worst (even Naomi, no matter how kind she is, is pretty disloyal depending on who it benefits) especially Max.

Cara or Ravi are probably my favorite character(s) on re-reading this. I love Pip, but it's sad knowing how she is willing to risk her life for the sake of an answer later on. ❤︎

Also I forgot how amazing Ravi is!! There's not a person in this world I can imagine being as sunshiney yet protective as him! Though I do kind of want to start watching the show for the first time after I finish this book!

Chapter 69 - I hate that they would do that to Libby, she would never (even indirectly) hurt Avery. And I hate the way they are playing Avery like she's someone they can hold in the dark as if she wouldn't help if she knew.

I do love the way Nash is so protective of Libby and how he's the one who trusts her enough to tell her things but knows who Avery is at heart. ♡

Chapter 58 - First of all, I love Avery as a character. Secondly, I'm wondering who was on the other side of the wall and how long for. From the moment Avery pointed out "aloud" I've been listening in and I wonder if it was before or after that moment, which is just plain creepy if before. But creepy regardless of when.

Lastly, I genuinely hate Drake. Libby deserves way better than him.

Chapter 54 - Oh, he fucked up. On one hand he's getting closer to the answers but on the other hand, why say that right now of all times??

I feel like he's using her so he doesn't have to grieve meanwhile she is developing genuine feelings for Jameson. Even though I'm on team Jameson and Avery, I can't really tell if he has feelings for her that way or if I'll like Greyson more with time.
