So far this is like the historical fiction equivalent of a cozy mystery. The characters are cardboard, the dialogue is stilted where it isn’t corny, and there are a lot of little impossibilities and outright mistakes in the description of the military during World War II. I hope it gets better soon.

So far I’m baffled at the acclaim this book has gotten. It is boring.

After an extremely slow start, this story is starting to grow on me.

Made it 40 pages in. Just not my jam.

So far I’m astonished by the number of punctuation and grammar errors in this book. The acknowledgments cite an editor but I don’t think she actually did a copy edit at any point.

Not sure I’m going to keep reading this tbh. It must have read better in the original Danish.

So far I am underwhelmed. Too much fantasy, not enough SF.
