Now finished ‘Pearl’ as well. Less enjoyable as ‘Sir Gawain’ but well written and a great story overall. Heartbreaking and evidently medieval in tone and intent, but also it felt a little long and drawn out; like the purpose could be achieved in 5-10 less stanzas. Unrelated but I also feel called out because the pearl poet basically beat me to an idea I had for a poem so idk what to do with that :/

So idk how long Goodreads thinks this is but I’ve still got to read through Pearl and Sir Orfeo so that’s something

~Completed ‘Sir Gawain,’ currently debating on whether to read any of the additional poems included in this small collection, since I had originally planned on just reading that one. But also yeah it’s fantastic, a great story, some weird pacing and moral ideas at times, but awesome overall. We need more crazy Christmas stories

But I lowkey forgot this is like, a Christmas story. We used to be a SOCIETY with the BALLS to have VIOLENT AND SUPERNATURAL CHRISTMAS STORIES, we need more of this. Less Santa Claus and more ghosts getting up to mischief

Would be done faster if I didn’t have to stop and put this down every 7 poems to just kind of “UGGAGHHHHHGHAHHHHFGGHHH” and soak it all in
