Seems the entire opening of this book was just the Interlude in which Lift first appeared in the main Stormlight Archives. I reread it anyway as a refresher, and now I'm looking forward to seeing how this story goes!

Enjoying it so far, definitely the most direct tie-ins to the rest of the Cosmere so far.

One of my favorite bits of dialogue from today's read:
MeLaan: "You're the Detective; I'm just around for the punchy-punchy, stabby stabby."
Wax: "She assumes that our Detective style isn't NORMALLY the punchy-punchy, stabby stabby type."
Wayne: "To be fair, it's usually a more shooty-shooty, whacky-whacky type."

Yeah I love these books!
Also nice to see the western stuff back in this book, + Indiana Jones stuff!

I love Kaladin's progression in this series! In Book 1 he goes from slave to Captain and head of the King's Bodyguards. In book 2 he upgrades from bodyguard to Knight Radiant. In Book 3 after one of his own best friends kills the King he was supposed to protect, he understandably crashes out and gets PTSD (well, gets it WORSE), and now in Book 4 Kaladin basically invents therapy!

Finally got a physical copy at my local library to go along with the Audiobook, so now I can keep track of pages and see the charts and maps and such, although tbf the included PDF file with the Audible version has most of that, which is really cool!

Realtime reaction as I pause this book at the end of the workday:
"Man, this is a spectacular climax! Big action scene, epic hero moments defying the big bad, I wonder what the cliffhanger will be at the end of the... WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE'S STILL FOUR AND A HALF HOURS LEFT?!?!?!?!"

James Swallow definitely uses a lot more characters and pays attention to connections between legacy characters more than Dayton Ward seemed to in Moments Asunder. Which is why it's so odd that, as of Chapter 7, he has not mentioned Geordi's relationship with Doctor Tamala Harding and, in fact, seems to have replaced her with Dr. Hegol Den...WHO DIED IN THE PREVIOUS BOOK! Oops.
