I love Kaladin's progression in this series! In Book 1 he goes from slave to Captain and head of the King's Bodyguards. In book 2 he upgrades from bodyguard to Knight Radiant. In Book 3 after one of his own best friends kills the King he was supposed to protect, he understandably crashes out and gets PTSD (well, gets it WORSE), and now in Book 4 Kaladin basically invents therapy!

Finally got a physical copy at my local library to go along with the Audiobook, so now I can keep track of pages and see the charts and maps and such, although tbf the included PDF file with the Audible version has most of that, which is really cool!

Realtime reaction as I pause this book at the end of the workday:
"Man, this is a spectacular climax! Big action scene, epic hero moments defying the big bad, I wonder what the cliffhanger will be at the end of the... WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE'S STILL FOUR AND A HALF HOURS LEFT?!?!?!?!"

James Swallow definitely uses a lot more characters and pays attention to connections between legacy characters more than Dayton Ward seemed to in Moments Asunder. Which is why it's so odd that, as of Chapter 7, he has not mentioned Geordi's relationship with Doctor Tamala Harding and, in fact, seems to have replaced her with Dr. Hegol Den...WHO DIED IN THE PREVIOUS BOOK! Oops.

I'm enjoying this so far, although as predicted I'm going much slower through the physical copy of the book than I used to when I was a voracious reader as a kid. And yet, while I love the convenience of audiobooks at work, there's something about holding the book in your hands and reading that Audiobooks can't equal. It's slower, but perhaps more...engaging? I dunno, but it's a good read so far.
