Animated by political rage, Musk posted day and night about Trump and the apocalyptic condition of the nation. Displaying all of the media literacy of a man twice his age, he amplified every fact-free conspiracy, every outrageous attempt to demonize trans people or migrants or a minority community.

Amidst America's crude sound-bite-driven politics, the battle around TikTok was reduced to a Sinophobic moral panic, rather than a complex debate about data sovereignty, free speech, the contested definition of "disinformation," and big tech's pioneering use of surveillance as a business model.

political realignments provoked by Trumpism + pandemic… On foreign policy it offered a blend of isolationism, Trumpist nationalism, suspicion of the deep state… Domestically, it was mostly a rehash of corporate-friendly Reaganomics w/a pungent disdain for the lower classes…. a welcome embrace to ppl who might have once counted themselves as liberals but now couldn't countenance the sight of homeless encampments

Can humans not find peace with one another? With the earth? ... Can we not stop tyrannising and destroying and ransacking and squandering this one thing on which our lives depend? Yet they hear the news and they've lived their lives and their hope does not make them naive. So what do they do? What action to take? And what use are words? They're humans with a godly view and that's the blessing and also the curse.
