I tried to go into this with an open mind, but I'm still surprised by how much I'm enjoying it.

Pausing here for now - I'll be re-reading Raven Tower with one of my book clubs later this year, and I think I'll save the stories in that world until then.

I know Mycroft is meant to be an unreliable narrator, but, uh, this book is really weird and uncomfortable around race and gender? In a bad way, not in a thought-provoking way as I think the author probably intends. I do not see the value in a white author expressing blatantly racist thoughts through her viewpoint character in this way.

I've been feeling a little book-restless since Path of Thorns, but this is finally seeming like a book I can really settle into and enjoy.

Repurposing the title "Southern Horrors" here seems questionable at best.

My very first audiobook ARC! I thought the Raybearer audiobooks were fantastic, and the first few minutes of this one are already catching my attention.

The world building is fascinating, but the author is going to need to do something really extraordinary in order for this romance to work for me.

The Veil Between: lovers finding each other, and death, across universes. Doesn't totally come together, but one of the better stories so far.

Lay Down Your Heart: alt history about slavery in Tanzania by a couple of white Canadians. Not for me.

Hope to See the Ghost Tonight: ghost story set at Flathead. Not really my kind of thing.

Dress of Ash: Cinderella retelling. Okay, but I didn't love it.

Robocare: an old, lonely man has an unexpected encounter. I enjoyed this one.
