This book is 95% dialogue which keeps it going at a quick pace, but make sure you’re actively trying to parse what’s happening with the plot. These characters speak fully in “gangster-speak” the whole time and it can be easy to miss whats happening. Otherwise its great

So far so good. This author is responsible for The Friends of Eddie Coyle as well as the book that became Killing Them Softly, both movies I adore so I figured I’d have to check him out

We have returned to the multiple narrator thing and have been introduced to a character’s perspective being told in the second person - its a subtle thing that happened in book #2 alternating between present and past tense, but the second person feels so cool. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a book with this feature

I’ve seen the movie adaptation of this already so we’ll see if its still worth a read. So far, the series has been different enough even on a plot standpoint that I’m happy to read the books already knowing the gist of the plot

Cool book so far. Its my first Gibson novel, after a little while of being an appreciator of his general vibe from a distance, and its not disappointing. Reminds me a little bit of The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon with how the plot is unfolding, how the main character meets strange and unlikely figures from a dense network of the underground, wielding strange technoligies

The writing style has not changed from the first book so I got into it immediately. Two narrators should make for an interesting story

So far so good - Pollan is a good writer and also presents great work from excellent researchers. It’s a pretty light read, despite the subject matter. Lays it out clearly for a scientific lay-person like myself. Sometimes I’m all in for some whacky shit like a Terence McKenna book, but in this case, I’m down for the very level headed take on it all

I like the way it’s written. The British way of speaking is entertaining and keeps me engaged in every detail. It’s a good noir mystery. Nothing too mind blowing but its certainly well done and a fun read for the rainy days

It reads so smoothly and easily, and makes perfect sense, but when you take a step back you realize how batshit insane the plot actually is and that gives me great pleasure
