WHAT IS GOING ON?!?! What I thought would be the climax has been and gone. These last 60-odd pages are gonna be wild. Also, shout out to Ordell for not running over a tortoise.

Okay, so it’s taken me up to this point to get an idea of what’s happening and what’s going to happen, but the journey to figuring that out has been so fun. Dynamic dialogue, captivating characters and snappy prose, Elmore Leonard isn’t forcing you to read any boring bits.

Started this collection of short stories sometime last summer. I’ve read the first three.

The only one that has stuck in my mind was about a fisherman. Whilst out fishing, a water spirit promises riches for him if he joins the spirit in another dimension. He says, “Absolutely! Let me get my pregnant wife first!”

When he leaves the dimension, hundreds of years have passed. You can fill in the rest.

Ahhh… a husband is lying to his wife. A tale as old as time 🥰

Absolutely loving this so far. I am furious that I have to put it down and go to sleep. I blame capitalism.
