Well... the idea was interesting, but by now it's more like "the sex gets interrupted by plot".
And there is a knife szene. Again. Really? Is this the only thing that came to your mind for "a dangerous sex szene"? What else in the kitchen are we going to use?

The blurb doens't explain anything about that to expect from the book, except for it might be a "why chose".
By chapter 6, it doesn't seem something special - by now, the plot is pretty predictable, but I'm currious if the author does anything on the psychological part. Keep listening for now.

cool premise turned lazy writing. Religious background could be veeeery controversial. Instead, religion is just a decoration with doctrines as barely seen tapestry. Briony is strong because Aero saw that in her. How? Where? Don't know. Her feeling desire is wrong. How do we know it? The author explains that to us.
At this rate, you can switch the characters from other books - nothing would happen

Reading an ARC copy of a book I can't share rn... and it's horrible. It reads like a first draft of a primitive male p*rn fantasy - even though, it's supposed to be a Dark Romantasy.
Feels like watching a house burn - a disaster you can't take your eyes off.

a book I only can read slowly. Pretty heavy emotionally, so it might take me very long time to finish it - but I'll finish it (after it'll finish me)

Never thought, a piece of paper and some metal with jewels around one's finger can change your personality THAT drasticly... Oh, wait! Right - Avery never had a personalty to begin with

next to the question "what exactly IS so special about Avery?" I've got another question "Why does it feels like every emotional damage will be curred with sex?" Maybe, it's just me...

the men are slowly loosing their agency... they start to breath for Avery only - and I still don't understand what makes her so special except for "it's the FMC"

Den of Vipers handled the "why choose" trope better, if I'm being honest...

Unpopular opinion: The knife scene was more like "let's write something crazy", while the edging scene was REALLY INTENSE

never. ever. EVER! do ANYTHING remotly like this!
this isn't "unhinged", this is SO DISRESPECTFUL towards real survivors!

comming to the knife-scene...

there was a part where the writing of trauma was really good. Like, I could feel the pain of the character.
...but the author decided that it was no fun for Addie to slowly find her way back to a normal life and pulled back to Haunting Adeline-style of writing.
I call it "missed opportunity"

very heavy topics mentioned, but from my point of view they were too.... shallow (?) researched. Often enough absolutelly horrific things are included for shock's sake, not as something that really can happen.
The psychological aspect could've been researched much more as well, although I do have to admit that at this point Addie is the least annoyng in both books. I can finally see a person instead of a cardboard

I have too little time to read, but boy, I'd devour this book if I had a chance. At least the beginning is veeeeeeryyyy promicing

die Autorin versucht, eine ähnliche Linie wie im Band 1 zu führen, doch die grösste Anspannung ist bereits weg. Es geht nur um die Lovestory zweier reicher Kids, wobei die eine auf den Teufel-komm-raus versucht, einen Krimiplot dort zu finden, wo es keinen gibt.
Was immer noch gut ist, ist die psychologische Begründung. Die Figuren handeln basierend auf ihren Erfahrungen und Traumas. Aber sonst...
