Reads like it was written in the 21st century. Bradbury’s prose is succinct yet beautiful. This book makes me want to delete social media. What is there to say about a book that’s been reviewed a million times? Very engaging story with incredibly important lessons.

I am disappointed in the direction this book has taken. It feels like a circle jerk of catholic guilt. I am exhausted reading pages upon pages of Stephen lamenting on his sinful actions and worrying about upsetting God. I am close to the end so I may push through, but I’m struggling to finish this one.

Enjoying it for the most part, it has frequently made me stop and think about how honest the expressions of youthful innocence are. Through the first two chapters I frequently found myself thinking “I know that exact feeling and this articulates it beautifully”. In chapter three, Joyce devotes multiple long passages to catholic preaching that are making this difficult to get through.

It begun slow but I am really beginning to enjoy. There have been so many moments of childlike innocence expressed beautifully and honestly. I keep finding myself going “I felt exactly like this as a child”.
