i’m back. this book is hard to get back into. a lot of it is background and character description that it can sometimes feel like that is all the book is going.

also,not loving the name ‘the chinese’ to refer to a character.

i like how orwell thinks that a facist society is one that uses the metric system in a pub. as much as i don’t like winston, orwell writes him so well to show the isolation, resentment and suspicion that one has within a regime aligned to the party’s agenda.
