I think this is the second chance romance to end all second chance romances omg 😭 but also wondering what is the rest of the book going to bring I am RIVETED please don’t veer off & disappoint me

i should be finishing that silver pines book by this author but gosh this cover???? SMOKING HOT i just had to dive in & i'm already hooked!! my first firefighter romance & help me rowan (both present day & at 18) makes me SQUEAL!!!! also already got teary from the grief theme, this is absolutely gonna hit all my feels

it’s finally starting to have a pull after one-third!!!!! HAHA living for the man in denial while being real protective, a unique brand of miscomm/misunderstanding each other’s reactions that I find acceptable for once, and the suspense plot finally kicking in!!!!

am I in a slump or should I just drop this cause just progressing 2.5 chapters felt real slow & boring… but the bit of emotional connection (instead of opportunistic angry sex) is stringing me along to see what happens next with our MCs 🥺

best parts of the book by far: owen this sweetheart teenage boy & his chaotic uncles the haven brothers 😂 as for our main couple… oh gosh what’s happening??? I don’t dislike how they’re navigating things but gosh we weren’t given enough moments between them for things to really be believable… WAY TOO INSTA EVERYTHING

author is really trying to make this quirky romcom vibes & it’s not hitting at all … FMC is 31 but written like she’s 21, swearing “sugar cookies” and all ‘cutesy’ rambling and super obsessed with her bad luck curse… also the instalove hahaha hanging in there for the haven family dynamics & what I hope will be a good mystery???

ok it's gonna be a while before i really get through this, cause i'm not feeling the insistence on both sides that the other doesn't like them back WHEN LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE KNOWS OR CAN SEE IT including family & close friends??? ahhhhhh also what's with the nickname "freckles" oof

:( this is feeling like a potential DNF, which sucks cause the premise is so promising???? but the reason for shelby's hate (which is trying hard to remain a ~mystery~) feels like it's gonna just be a huge misunderstanding, not worth 20 years of hate, and the way they bicker is sooooo immature, you're telling me these are 2 people in their late 30s?????

I swear I'm not trying to grow my "currently reading"/brb list further, but I shouldn't be surprised since Twilight Tides had a similar issue: the start is real slow... like all I got from the MCs' first encounter was they have the hots for each other? And a whole lot of description about Leth Sholas - yeah it's setting the scene as the first book but come onnnn I'm bored :( need the suspense soon!!

ooooo this is feeling like a good one!!! might even finish it in one go & get out of my slump - love the world building around with the archer bros and brae's personal quest and the side characters in town being slowly added WEW LET'S GO

Back at this to chip away at my “in progress” list, but I’m quickly reminded why I put this down to begin with… single POV doesn’t quite do it for me & the writing’s not as good as Hothead (though to be fair, this is an earlier work) 😞 also kinda odd for Sofia to be discussing her cousin’s (MMC) sex life so readily with FMC… debating DNF but curious about the St Lucia trip 👀

Maybe I should get back to my sports romances, but I really can't help this mafia rut I'm in 😂 not sure where this is going cause the pacing feels a tad slow (it's been only 3 days since our MCs met) but not bewildered like my last mafia read so that's a plus! Also I'm head over heels for Enzo LOL even though this isn't his book omg I love that goofy goldie

What a rollercoaster ride!!! Even though it's been so fast-paced, I've really enjoyed seeing our MCs basically living like a married couple but ~oh no I can't tell you I love you we're just friends~ AND NOW YOU TAKE THEM APART??? Now I have to go several chapters waiting for this "FMC got taken" arc to be resolved before I can see the couple back together?!?! Oh man I need a minute idk if I can do this

Did not realise I was walking into a 2nd gen book series oooo 👀 Interesting!!! Kinda looking forward to that layer of found family dynamics. Not really convinced why the MCs are so dead set that romantic feelings would ruin their best-friendship when they already act like more than friends??? Also spotted a continuity error already lol PLEASE DON'T POP UP ANYMORE CAUSE THIS IS STILL PROMISING

The tempting claws of DNF are starting to bare… which would be a pity because this book was so hot, swoony and giggly in the first half - up until they suddenly get married. And if my favourite trope gets shredded to pieces… it’ll be PURE TRAGEDY
