Lunar and Dread are very precious to me.

The first one was darling, but I'm liking this one even more!

I keep thinking of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror, when Lisa reads The Raven to Bart.

"Hey, Lis? You know what would be scarier than nothing?"
"What?"
"ANYTHING!"

I'm reading this with my face scrunched up and my heart pounding. This is the kind of near miss, don't-you-understand-who-that-really-is is just KILLING ME.

Was this book written specifically for me?!

There is a surprisingly high body count for a middle grade book!

The realization that this was all just happening in Tolkien's brain and he probably had even more going on makes me think I shouldn't even be writing.

Great stuff so far! Really loving this!

This book is too long to make me be this tense the whole time. I don't know if I'll make it! Also, every part of my body clenches up when I get to a Duchess chapter. Dammit, Duchess, don't screw everything up for everyone!

Obviously I had to start this before I had even put the box in the recycling! I frequently preorder things from B&N when they have their preorder sales, and then forget about them, but I've watched the updates on this one so eagerly! I laughed so hard reading her first book that I dropped it twice, and this one is equal parts hilarious and bittersweet, and I'm so happy!

I had forgotten that everyone only wears primary colors. Egwene is currently wearing a "light red" gown. I'm sorry . . . do you mean pink? Is it . . . unmanly . . . to use the word pink in a book where half (or MORE) of the characters are women or something?

(Yes, I'm aware that light red is SORT OF a thing. But I genuinely think he refused to put anyone in a pink dress.)

Good grief this is adorable!

Five grown men, one of them the police commissioner, just sat down playing poker for thousands of dollars. If you tried to pitch this as a children's book today they would laugh in your face!

Just read the Werewolf by Night origin story and great Scott, that is some seventies soap opera right there! It was like reading an episode of Dark Shadows!

I was listening to the audiobook, which is fine, but it's a dense book and I have some personal stuff going on, and had to switch to the physical book while I listened to some lighter audiobook fare.

Fascinating stuff, though! I'm very curious about how all this turns out!

What always surprises me whenever I reread these books or watch the series is the Whitecloaks. I hate them so much, yet I literally forget about them as soon as they leave the page. So, nyah nyah, Child Byar. I don't think about you at all!

I know that Horatio is probably protecting Milo from something . . . but he's such a jerk!

I don't know if I could take a man with a tiny whisk tattooed behind his ear seriously . . . but I'm laughing over the reference to The Dick Soap Incident!
