Halla is fucking annoying. There are too many times where the two mains talk when talking is a terrible idea (mid-battle, trying to hide, etc) and it's not just a quick sentence, no, no, it's continuous dialogue. And if I see the word "decadent" ONE more time, I'm going to throw this book. It's every chapter! I just saw it twice in two successive paragraphs! Get a thesaurus!!!

Interesting so far, but written like a teenager wrote it. The inner thoughts of Amanda are childish. The random changes of POV are jarring. AND STOP ARCHING A SINGLE BROW. Seriously, I've lost count. Someone arches a brow every other page. On one page Amanda does it twice with mere paragraphs in between. People rarely do this in real life, and to have it happen this often is (clearly) annoying to read and picture.

Pretty cliche so far. We'll see.

Trying this despite the horrible bore that was his Southern Bookclub Guide to Vampires or whatever the title was.

NOPE. She's choosing stupidity. Again. Because that's all this frustrating MC has been doing since page one. Man, I hope this improves...Sager is normally way better.

I loved The Dancing Girls, but wow, is this BORING so far. A lot of misused commas, too, and the author dropped pain of losing people the MC loved most without ever telling us about them or what happened. Don't give us extra new to try to remember that we can't connect with. This one's a struggle.

I'm starting to think all the hype on the cover is fake.

"His lips were dark, the same color as the inside of his mouth."
Also, 73 pages in and NOTHING is happening. It's the same stuff over and over. Might DNF. Why are there such good reviews?

More than once, names I do not know have just dropped in as if they'd been mentioned already but haven't. Also, Cath spent many pages complaining about not wanting to go to the dining room and instead eating just protein bars and peanut butter, then all of a sudden, a paragraph says 'she usually waited outside of the cafeteria for Wren and Courtney instead of going in' ... I thought she never went in! Frustrating.
