I’m disappointed I’m not enjoying this book at all. The premise is so intriguing, but the execution isn’t holding my attention. McIntyre’s sentences have a uniformity of structure and cadence that results in, for my tastes, boring prose. Typically, I will speed read to get past this, but the text slows down again with exhaustive and repetitive descriptions. The story crawls. I have to dnf this one.

This is harrowing and so, so good. I’m glad I went out of my way to borrow a copy.

Just not feeling this one. Might try it again in hard copy instead of audio.
