Ik zit er onderhand zo diep in dat ik er niks over kwijt hoef. Ik vind de karakters zo leuk en diepgaand ik herken in veel dingen een groot verschil in normen van mijn eigen cultuur en dat van Rusland destijds. Maar dat is alleen maar intressant.

Ik vraag me af of meeste mensen toen zo'n groot vocabulair en spraak vermogen had of dat het zo is voor het boek (waarschijnlijk het laatste).

Too bad about Lizaveta tho she really didn't deserve that. But if he DID lock the door and she hadn't come in he'd probably wouldn't have escaped as easily.

I love the descriptions of Raskolnikov's thoughts and feelings it's exactly how I'd imagine committing such an act would feel.

Walking up to a stranger and just yelling "Clear off!" is really funny to me.

His "friend" seems like a really comical character

Everyone nows a guy who's just moving forward genuinly unbothered by whatever obstacles may appear before him. Atleast making it seem that way, while at the same time finding a way to put effort in the social aspects of life.

I aspire to be like them

I think our protag is in his core a good person. But the destitute circumstances of his environment and the fact that he had to quit his studies have been weighing heavily on his soul.

Having his mother describe him as "all their hopes and aspirations rolled into one" or whatever it was exactly, make me believe he probably put an incredible amount of pressure on himself for the sake of his family.
