These first two chapter of the book surprised me because I did not think that it is possible for people to live the way the characters live in the book. The attitude of the dad made me fell like he is very controlling and it seems like he most likely brain washed his wife to share his views because they are so radical.

This final section of the book made me wonder what the fate of the main characters would be. Although all the characters end up going their seperate ways we are left to wonder hat happens to them in their new lives. I found the battle between Helgi and Grimmur to be intriguing because of the fact that they were both very injured so the fight itself was mostly slow did not seem very effective.

This section of the book amazed me because there were multiple plot twists including Martin getting mad about Grimmur opening the box, Grimmer slaughtering a horse for no reason, and the three main characters finding a way to trick the vikings. I found the part where Grimmur got very drunk and then killed a horse for no reason strange and I dont understand why the author included as it didnt contribute to the plot.

The part of the book that I read today made me wonder if there will be any other long lasting characters besides Martin, Grimmu, and Una because a new character was introduced but she also left the island of I by the time I finished reading today. This lead me to believe that other characters in the book might come into play but none of them will be as important or influencial to the story as the three mentioned.

This section in the book made me think that although Grimur, the viking who was stranded on the nearly deserted island of I, might think and talk a lot about his journey beyond the island and plan his return to his frieands but that the book itself might concern his time on the island and his connections with the boy and the mead wife who are also left on the island.

So far I have found this book very interesting because the scenes so far have been very violent and this has been my first brush with a book written in this style.

In the verses of Beowulf that I read today I learned about a king whos palace and people are being attacked by a demon every night and about a very strong hero who gathers men to help him fight the demon.
