CONFLICT- The conflict is characters v. society because the characters have to save the world from the goddess Gaea and her minions. The characters also have to save two other friends that are trapped in Tartarus. The book says, "...they might be able to open the Doors on the mortal side, save their friends, and seal the entrance, stopping Gaea's forces..." This shows the problems they need to solve in the novel.

PREDICTIONS- In this book I predicted that a room the characters were in was created by Archimedes. I got to my inference because the room had clues like spheres and circles. The book states, "Dozens of bronze and gold spheres like steampunk basketballs sat around in various stages of disassembly." I recalled that Archimedes was famous for studying circles and spheres, which led me to my theory.

P.O.V- The point of view of my book is 3rd person limited because it only tells me what one character is thinking and feeling. The author plays around with the narrators throughout the book by changing the narrator every few chapters. The book says, "Until she met the exploding statue, Annabeth thought she was prepared for anything." The evidence proves my point because it tells only what she is thinking.

PROTAGONIST- The protagonist of this novel is Percy Jackson, a funny and mischievous teenage boy who is loyal to his friends. He is white and has slick black hair. In the book, he fights monsters and goes on many quests with his friends. In the book it says, "He had the good looks of a Roman god, with sea-green eyes and windblown black hair." Percy is also the son of Poseidon and has the power to possess water.

Setting: This book takes place mainly in San Francisco and during the 2000s in June. The setting in this book changes throughout the book. For example, near the end of the book, the characters find themselves in Alaska. I know it is during June because the characters are sent on a quest that must be completed during June. It takes place during the 2000s because there is modern technology.

Two genres of this book are fantasy and mythology. I know it is fantasy because there are fictional monsters and weapons. I know it is also mythology because the monsters and characters are based on Greek and Roman mythology. For example, there are gorgons and harpies which are from Greek mythology.

This book is about Greek and Roman mythology. It has three main characters named Hazel, Frank, and Percy. Percy has lost his memory and finds himself at Camp Jupiter with many other people. They must go on a quest to Alaska to save the world from the goddess named Gaea. I picked this book because it was the next book in the Heroes of Olympus series. I also think that Greek and Roman mythology is very interesting.
