The name "Beat" for the hero is the most unfortunate name ever. I keep thinking 🫜's and also other things. It's really weird her name is Melody too

I have so many questions.
1. Was Layla's divorce amicable? Because her avoiding the ex in-laws is pathological
2. What's the backstory between the groom-to-be (Michael) and his best friend (Griffin)? Because Griffin is REALLY invested in fixing things for Michael. It's beyond friendship
3. What is the backstory on Griffin's scars and pain?
3. Why the HELL does Emily suddenly have cold feet?

Enjoying it so far but for once I'd like to read a Katherine Center book where the mom is still alive

My first Danmei! I am enjoying it, the fish out of water and court machinations are amusing and right up my alley. But this is book 1 of 4, so who knows what I have gotten myself into

This kind of reminds me of a mix of the Kiera Knightly film Laggies, and Ghost World.

I was a bit worried this was going to be very spicy, but it's not, and I don't think the MFC is going to call the MMC Daddy. Phew.

I may have taken a break for a couple of weeks...still no idea why these two broke up but they are torturing one another/themselves. Two places where something is described as making Harriet feel like a split log (pg 216 and 241 in my copy) and it's an arresting enough simile that more than once is too much. But I know I'm being fussy. It's a good line

I can't seem to shake that I'm going to be very annoyed by the reason for Harriet and Wyn's break up. So I'm slightly dreading reading more and finding out. I feel like the set up is Wyn is down on himself. Thinks he was voted prom king because people pitied him, like...what?! Harriet has her own baggage from her family life (still murky as to what). Getting to the meat of their issues is adding slog to the story

So far I feel like this is one of Emily Henry's most predictable books? Goes back and forth in time between college/early relationship and after college/past breakup. And no explanation of why they broke up and they're clearly still into each other, so they're going to get back together and the reason for the break up is going to be something they can come back from easily. Like they needed growth first.

More of Sorcha being very basic and yet all the Fae respond with "you're not like other humans". Also the h/H have spend very little time together but "love" has been brought up already. Lust for sure has been in the building a while. And on this page she refers to the hero by name but she's not supposed to know it yet. I bought a special edition because FOMO and I really thought I'd like this but it needs polishing

Still finding inconsistencies in plot, but also am starting to feel that while *conversations* suggest Sorcha is smart and kind (the fae are surprised/impressed by her), she isn't *actually* that smart. Like she has a very mild argument with the hero and runs blindly into a storm. It was dramatic and made no sense. Or she follows the creepy voice from the portal even when she thinks it's a trap? Girl.

Reminds me of Beauty and the Beast, Disney version. Belle is Sorcha, Beast is Eamonn, Mrs Potts is Oona, Gaston is Geralt...but her dad is a pimp (!? a kind one, somehow) and her sisters all prostitutes (all somehow blonde while Sorcha is not). There are already inconsistencies/plot holes that I'm noticing. Like one character says the island is visible in a few weeks, another in 6 days, a few pages apart? 🤔?!

Welp, finished another one. Not at the same level as Garden Spells, but still good.

Ok, so big theme is things that happened to people in high school, consequences of that, and second chances.

Since I read Garden Spells so fast I decided to dive right into another Sarah Addison Allen story.
Plopped into a small Southern town with its secrets, it looks like our two main characters are Julia, who insists she's leaving in 6 months and not interested in a man she has a history with, and Emily, teen girl who recently lost her mom (who mysteriously never told her about Mullaby).

I picked this up based on Angie from Angieville's recommendation (if she likes a book, I tend to like that book). Guess what: I like this book. I read 70% in one sitting and then had to sleep to wake up at a proper hour the next day.

This is 100% Reylo (Rey + Kylo Ren) fanfiction, but I'm not mad about it. It hits a lot of delightful, DELIGHTFUL, tropes including fake dating and mutual pining. *Chef's kiss*

Ending = travelled very far from where the book started. Much like the first book, but even more of a ride.

Been reading this when I have free moments through the week. Fun space opera with a romance ( of the "sorry I shot you, it's complicated" kind, but these two will make it I know).

This is actually a reread. Last time I started this I think I ended up around here when work got crazy and didn't pick it up again...enough to throw me out of the story...Maybe I even finished this and forgot? I no longer know.

Anyway, really enjoying this. Probably like this more than her other series. Well, I adore a science fiction romance, so this is not unexpected.

Maybe Larry is the Marianne character? Or pure comic relief? I love his friendship with Anne either way..Love love love. But not a fan of his being with a married guy.
Would be just fine without that storyline.

Getting to the end, I think I agree with other people who felt that Anne and Adam's resolution felt very abrupt - if I didn't already know the Persuasion plot, I'd have been flummoxed

I sense that this suave Rick who keeps badmouthing Anne's ex-love the is the Wickham character. So..Persuasion with a dash of Pride and Prejudice? Am not sure what to make of the side story where Anne's best friend is dating a married man...that's not going to end well.

Persuasion modern retelling.. Of course I'll read it

Yay, this was good. Satisfying.

Hmm, actually the narrative seems to show an awareness of the... issues with the age thing. That makes me feel better.

I'm enjoying this one - there's always something interesting happening that keeps me wanting to keep reading. The only thing I am not sure of yet is the potential romance. I think I'm a little weirded out by the age difference. I have to think about it.
