Started this book at around 8:30pm ish. I need to be able to help Alondra in case she does read and makes it far. But truthfully this book is really good so far even though it is for a younger audience! C.S. Lewis’ world building is amazing and I was amazed and hooked since the end of the first chapter, the characters till now have also been wonderful, had I not been sleepy (10:15 PM) I would’ve kept reading!

Love the way the author went about the interaction, it was easy to keep track of it. I love how drunk Caderousse reveals his true intentions and thoughts on Dantes and it doesn’t seem like he wishes him any harm. On the other hand, the other two seem determined to ruin Dantes’s life, despite knowing what could await them once he is released from prison. This is definitely a well written start.

OMG THANK GOODNESS SHE ISNT CHEATING! Up until now it’s only gotten better and better. Being able to see how this is all building up! Now the brother/cousin of Mercedes also having hatefulness in his heart alongside the other two (neighbor and ship worker) adds more and really shows the situation that will lead up to Dantes story. They seek for his destruction, and sadly it seems they’ll achieve it.

OMG! So interesting to see the development and now two characters, one new and one previous have something again Dantes! And also WHAT? Is my boy being cheated on?? The heck. This second chapter was def a step up from the last one, making me want to keep reading. I love the relationship between Dante’s and his father (old man Dantes). Overall this was such an amazing chapter that is leaving me wanting for more!

So far it’s a really good start. I had issues with the Oxford version but it’s a lot easier reading this one, decently easy to follow along. Dantes is a very good young man, and the captain is no less of one to him. Definitely gotta keep an eye on Danglars. So far this is a nice start though.
