I came over to check the other reviews on Goodreads, and it’s really heartbreaking to me that so many white women are remarking on how it’s interesting to see what growing up as an Arab Muslim is like. I want to tell those women this is a really, really poor representation. I want to suggest another book, but sadly, there is little in the genre that I’m aware of, so I can’t.

I just started it and there are just sooo many red flags so far that I don’t want to stick with it, based on all the profanity and irreverence that I’m already seeing. It seems like these sisters hate their background and I can’t get past the lack of respect. I live in Bay Ridge and though I’m recognizing all the landmarks, there is no love in the way the author is describing it, it sounds like a ghetto.

Waaay more information than I was looking for but completely satisfied the “Why” for quitting sugar

This book has some really great short stories with surprising twists… I’m delighted!
