So far he's made a mistake about Arthur's clothing, which looks accurate for his time. His diction isn't fabulous. And Queen Elizabeth Woodville did NOT make a fatal error in handing over her younger son. Richard III's men surrounded Westminster Abbey where she was in sanctuary, and she really had no choice--and she was handing the boy over to a senior relative, Cardinal Bourchier. She knew not to trust Richard.

Enjoyed until we meet Cameron. Beach read.

Still in the family trees and mini bios, where there are really annoying, careless, and clearly obvious errors. Not a good beginning.

I'm finally getting around to reading this in an edition that I bought years ago which has tiny tiny type (which presumably was much easier for me to read then), and has yellowed some. New copies are expensive. A quandary, esp since I am finding the Pistons losing battles very depressing, if enlightening.

Skipping around. This will take me a while to read, even just the Third Age parts.

We know even less about Thomas, Eleanor's husband: we do know for sure that he was born, was knighted, died, and when he died. That's about it.

So far, in spite of a welter of information about Eleanor's complex family, only abundant speculation about her education, who she might have known. Perhapst her husband Thomas Butler was brought up in her family, and that she might have known him her whole life when she married him. Or maybe not. Had she met Edward when she was five? Maybe. Or maybe not. Nothing solid so far.
