Getting interesting now!

Uneven, as anthologies usually are. But the atopic is still taboo and rare enough that I’ll read the whole thing. The good ones are excellent!

Listening. On the fence as to whether to continue but I loved January so much that I’ll keep listening!

Yum. So much depth of insight about generations of Black women in her fam.

We watched American Fiction finally and loved it. I wanted to dive into Everett’s language and nuance. Well worth it!

Yum. Getting into the daughters of the family. Such honesty, beauty, and richness in her writing of each person.

I continue to alternate between the biographical beginning and haiku sections. Thorough, enjoyable, profound.

Holy shit. An amazing book. Beautiful blend of form and content, powerful personal and national history. Vivid and gut wrenchingly beautiful writing.

Despite its shortcomings - mainly a lack or acknowledgement in meaningful ways or connections to native forestry methods - I am finding this a quick, deep, and enjoyable read.

Surprised by how much this is a family memoir, but pleased it is.

I knew this would be mixed - and largely ableist (it is) but it’s got some good tips and I am hankering to spend more time outdoors and in the dark and cold. So, taking what’s useful, leaving the rest.

lol I definitely recall a bunch of these but they make a LOT more sense now that I am nearing 50!

Appreciating the closing chapters as they help bring disparate bits together, including actions and practices.
