'In 1938, a Los Angeles teacher, Helen Hullick, was held in contempt for daring to show up in pants to testify as a witness and for refusing to change into a dress when the male judge insisted. She was given a five-day jail sentence.' Jailed for wearing a dress!

For everyone who hates censorship, banned rape documentary India's Daughter based on the gang rape and murder of Jyoti Singh in December 2012, is now on YouTube for a limited time only: http://youtu.be/fLg131SZk1o

I highly recommend watching it while you can. It's shocking.

Finished chapter 1: 'Meeting Rob'. (At 56 minutes.) Billy Crystal sounded like he voiced his bit via a phone call.

'Classic: a small word that carries enormous weight, although sometimes it's tossed around a bit too casually; a reputation earned over the course of time, and given only to those rare films that stand up to repeated viewings.' (From the Intro. pg 5 of hardback, according to Amazon)

This audio is awesome. Elwes is voicing it with the help of the director and other cast members of the movie! I'm pretty sure this is going to an audio favourite.

My pre-ordered hardback still hasn't arrived so I've bought the audio from Audible.

Hugh Jackman is an awesome narrator! C.C.H. Pounder and LeTanya Richardson-Jackson (Samuel L. Jackson's wife) are also very good.

Favourite narrator so far is Whoopi Goldberg. She was very animated and highly entertaining. I'd definitely listen to other audiobooks narrated by her.

Gosh, this is beautiful; the narrator's voice and the writing.

13-yr-old Lakshmi has just been sold, she thinks to become a maid in the city, but I'm pretty sure her future is about to take a sinister turn for the worst. Disliking the oppressive expectations of women here.

And apparently buying Coca-Cola is a luxury for the poor.

Finished Chapter 5. Enjoying the narration by Miriam Margolyes - she's the only reason I've kept listening.

Part I was compelling; I delayed sleep. Part II less so; I skimmed a bit. Overly long philosophical discussion and unnecessary sentences which say very little (possibly a translation issue) made me impatient.

Finished Chapter 12. I'm pretty sure those that confessed to the murder actually did it. The confusion over the timing has to be a red herring.

Okay, now it's gettin' juicy! The vicar's just walked in on a married woman passionately kissing the local artist who was thought to be wooing her stepdaughter. Think of the scandal!

Loving Richard E. Grant as a narrator, but the first 30 mins is ladies gossiping and an elderly vicar lamenting his decision to marry and wishes he'd chosen celibacy instead.

Apparently having a young hot wife to spend the nights with doesn't make up for disliking her irritating personality. As the saying goes, he married in haste (he asked her to marry him after knowing her 24hrs) and is repenting at leisure.
