I enjoy this series (and the dress witch ones even more) but oh my GOSH, could the editor please, please stop the author from using the phrase "back in the day" ten times a chapter?

This warms my heart. I have found these books to be just overwhelmingly straight and now the main character is learning a little about gender identity! It's kind of clumsy, but she basically says that even if she doesn't understand, it's best to be kind and polite and nobody should have to try to change themselves to fit others' preconceptions.

Now that they're talking more about spinning I want to do some spinning myself! I have some fiber but there's enough of it that I want to use a wheel for it and my wheel is… inconsistent and frustrating.

This has to be returned to the library but I will get back to it when I have the spoons to spend on rage-inducing non-fiction.

Library app recommended it because I had checked out a different one in the serious and I thought why not have something brainless to listen to while I do house chores.

Why am I still listening to this? My old completionist tendencies showing through.

Listening was the right choice! In addition to the narrator who reads some of the letters and essays by RBG, there are also recordings of RBG herself and at least one highly humorous one by Martin Ginsburg (her husband).

Got this from the library for my next audio book. I'm not usually good at audio non-fiction but I'm hoping that it will work for me because of being a collection of essays. If nothing else, I will listen to the pieces that are RBG herself speaking and then read the rest on paper/e-ink.

I need a break from this one. The perspective of military coming in to quell protestors is not something I'm going to read right now. Even when it's written to challenge the foot soldiers to take personal responsibility for the actions.

This book is going into time out.

Don't remember who recommended this one but I'm in the mood for some sci fi so let's go!

OK, the last time I was listening to a book that referred to the Bay Area Rapid Transit as "BART" without an article in front, just like a name: "I rode BART to get here" I asked around and learned that people native to the Bay Area actually refer to it that way.

Which is why I noticed that this book uses the definite article when referring to the transit situation out there.

My library app kept trying to recommend this to me, and my little sister also read it and thought I would like it. I keep expecting the writing style to be like the Incryptid books and it isn't.

Hahahahahah this time it's a character named Luke who reveals to someone else that they have an evil biofather!

Just realized that the boy being turned into a rat is also part of the Hollows books. Which are an order of magnitude better than this.

Maybe I'm just not into YA love triangles.

The only think I like about Jace is that he doesn't like Earl Grey because he hates bergamot. At least he has excellent taste in tea!

This appears to be a not-very-good Buffy knockoff. I think this time randomized available library audiobooks has failed me.

I am terrible at accents but I've developed an OK ear for different British Isles accents. Narrator keeps switching the Scottish accent to something more Irish. If that.

Hoo boy. Yeah. That's bad. Got the 28-year-old pilot drooling over the 18-year-old girl. The book was written in the early 2000s and the author uses the term "Oriental" to talk about a Vietnamese woman? Nooooo.

Not to mention that the narrator pronounced "Celtic" like the basketball team and totally butchered "naginata."

I'm out.

Sure, why not do another post-apocalyptic book right now? This one isn't plague-based; all the electricity stops, which doesn't sound terrible, tbh. I remember liking the part where they made communities that lived in the woods. I could spin yarn and knit stuff.

I was surprised that the library app showed I had finished this audiobook because I didn't remember reading it.
I definitely remember the beginning, so I'm unsure what happened. Did I abandon it? Was it so unmemorable that I simply don't recall?

O, the irony of reading this book on an e-reader as a loan from the library!

If nail guns are anything like staple guns, there should be a safety mechanism on the tip that prevents firing if it's not pushed against a surface. OK. But maybe that was disabled.

A *pneumatic* nail gun needs to be connected to an air compressor via hose. This makes wander around a bit more difficult. The compressors are not often quiet, either.

I am questioning the verisimilitude of this book.

It was in the new audiobook section at my library. Sounds like a brain candy read. If I'm lucky it'll be as good as Kim Harrison's Hollows books. If not, I won't bother with the rest of them.

Kizzy is very, very clearly influenced by Kaylee. I hope she proves to be just as awesome.

A friend of mine was reading the first couple of chapters out loud to me and I like the handling of gender so far. I've put the book on library order.

A reference to Babylon 5 (for telepathic ethics) is a sure way to win my heart. (Talia/Ivanova 4ever)

Ha ! I'm assuming the reference to rumors of a werefox in Nottingham are meant to be a nod to the animated Robin Hood movie which some of my friends (incorrectly) believe to be the best film adaptation.
The definitive version is, of course, The Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Basil Rathbone, Claude Rains, and the incomparable music of Erich Wolfgang Korngold.
