A few years ago it seems like Alastair Reynolds' works were popping up in my feeds constantly. So I read Revelation Space, which was supposed to be awesome. And by read, I mean, "listened to the Audiobook." That was a mistake. I remember essentially nothing of that book other than disappointment. Chasm City is the place to start. I'm reading it traditionally, and that's the way to go. LOVING IT.

Jason Cox is on page 40 of 80 of The Tolkien Years of the Brothers Hildebrandt (Dynamite Art Books)
Interesting stories behind the art of Tim & Greg Hildebrandt (The Brothers Hildebrandt) during their Tolkien era. I think the copy is written by one of their sons, and it's a super interesting perspective.
Might buy this in hardcover. The Kindle version of this doesn't work well because it essentially skips past the art (which is magnificent) to zoom in on the text!

Jason Cox is finished with A World Undone: The Story of the Great War, 1914 to 1918
This book is INCREDIBLE. Though it is a detailed description of the events leading to and throughout world war I, some of the events described are eerily familiar in our current world. The effect of media of the day on the various civilians around the world and the propaganda they used to drive sentiment towards individual publisher's political aims. They drove people to fury against "the other."

So far, pretty interesting world Nix is setting up. Main character is lackluster, though

Nothing truly new here, but so far I'm enjoying Marc's writing, the photos are fantastic, and I can see this being a great recommendation for a new/aspiring woodworker.

So far this book is fantastic. Some of the best fantasy I've ever read.
