Countdown to shit hitting the fan has begun but I have work for the next 9 and a half hoursss

This is rough. Just 6% in and I don't know if I can read this much about a woman (whose self esteem can be found fossilised at the bottom of the Mariana Trench) and her golden retriever non-boyfriend (who I really wish was an actual dog because only then his effortless perfection and boy-genius would be endearing) going on an adventure to hell to save a piece of sht person. Does this get better I wonder...

So far, not enjoying Alina because of the weird self-esteem issues and wasn't expecting the Darkling to be this "bad boy" coded but let's see.

I think this is the first book that got me this invested in a romantic sub-plot in a fantasy book. And I would be fine with Kennit being sea serpent bait.

I am convinced this is a story about how one man can ruin your entire family for generations (I am looking at you Kyle).

I hope Kyle slips and sits on a stake.
