Literally every chappppterrrr. And I know (from reading the manga) that the purpose is to bluntly show sex work in the misogynist shonen-isekai setting and danger is inherent to the job due to said misogyny but. goddam. Let her catch a break!

I wonder if Dickinson did any work in plague wards or if Ebola-type illnesses are his own personal nightmare and that's why he writes these scenes so well.

Love the way Dickinson handled magic & spiritualism. It feels very grounded.

The first person perspective is doing this story a disservice. Haru is only telling us what she wants us to know, and since like 30-40% of her brash confidence is a front to protect herself from her situation we are getting a skewed view of what's going on. Which the author could be doing on purpose! But I feel its more that isekai light novels are expected to be in first perspective.

I read a few reviews before reading this one and I really need to stop doing that because people are duuuuuuummmmb. Two star review complaining that this book is a watered down Cloud Atlas & the only similarity I've found is the way the chapters are structured 😭

I understand the appeal of the vignette format but having aimless characters being the center of snippet that has no structure... its not working. Maybe they'll all shape up together impressionist style.

World's biggest pin in Key being the Emperor. Had not realized the crowned mask was a whole face deal. Also feeds into Rae & Eric not know what's REALLY going on due to reading two different versions of the same book/know two different timelines of what happens in this world.

Is Key secretly the king's half brother or something? Also I can't blame Rae for not figuring out the king is interested in her again due to her inexperience with romance irl but I haaaaaaate when characters are confused the the plot of the book is changing. girl you are literally changing the plot by existing.

This is such a pet peeve but I hate when there are musical scenes in books because what is the tune!! Do the words they are singing actually fit into a song, or is it just another way to do exposition? At least put the sheet music in an appendix!
