Came available at the library and the timing is…on point

Switched to my own hard copy so I can underline the whole book 🙃

Can anyone just tell me how this resolves? Want to give up but want to know the end. 😬

Fascinating…and mostly SO dry

Many fascinating things to learn here, but the author’s superior/snide tone (she is reading the audiobook, but I think it’s inherent to the words not just her vocalizations) when discussing religion is off-putting to say the least.

Getting realistic and returning this to the library. Now is not the time, don’t know if there ever will be…this is *massive*

So far the best part has been the reference to Everything Everywhere All At Once. Also, how is everyone finding this hilarious…

Idea that it’s better to understand someone’s different perspective as they describe it vs imagine how you would feel. Important for developing empathy in children.

This is so tiny, but I’m really objecting to the guy who does everything by app “push[ing] a few buttons” on his phone to order pizza 🧐

This book is almost entirely unresolved sexual tension, and is therefore far too long.

The discussion on atonement is interesting, and I think I need to read vs listen to actually think about and determine where I land.

Going to pause here indefinitely. These are just flying over my head.

Don’t follow her logic connecting individualistic parenting practices and the Catholic Church

Stated goal to examine rhythms of other cultures’ parenting “to make your life easier”. Not to be a better parent for your child or set your child up for success, but to make your life easier... -_-

Don’t know if I can finish this. I want to have the intellectual curiosity to read and learn from those whose views are in some way opposite mine. But it is tough.

This is harder to get into than I expected.
