Whooooooo boy. Not my usual type of book, I anticipate a slow read. Interesting format. Sybil is… very judgmental. Honestly she kind of reminds me of my grandma. I loved my grandma but god damn she could be harsh.

I said I didn’t want to feel bad for Andreas. I do. But he failed Caspia. Not by killing her but by shutting out his daughter.

I’m just now realizing king Cross wants to kill Ransom because he’s the silver eyed warrior who killed Emry.

That’s why Caspia and Xandra got sick when they first came to Calandra, they drank the water.

Also, Luella’s claim that the monsters had magic is making more sense. They do have magic, corrupted magic, from the water.

But why are the “humans” not affected by corrupted magic?

If one of the orbits is in Allesaria and that’s what King Cross is trying to find, is the reason Mae was supposed to the Sparrow because she was more expendable than Odessa? Though it doesn’t excuse his absolutely shitty treatment of Odessa.

Okay, just going with the assumption that Caspia and Andreas are Odessa’s parents. Clearly Caspia has shared with Andreas about the magicians and the orbits and destroying them to free Calandra. And that’s probably what he wants to find in Allesaria. But that still doesn’t explain why he’s so terrible to Odessa. Especially since it seems Caspia failed and Odessa will be needed to find the Orbits..

Is the sickness everyone gets while sheltering in the tunnels related to Lyssa?

I cannot reconcile the vile King Cross to Andreas.

Green Blood. I mean this is probably not that shocking given all the other mentions of enhanced hearing and fast healing etc, but I’m not at all surprised. I’m guessing the one-eyed bariwolf is Xandra. Which obviously means Luella didn’t create Lyssa.

Kind of hoping Casios and Andreas are not Odessa’s parents though because the Gold Kimg is a conniving asshole.

And why are the Swift monsters in Calandra and gentle in this other place?

Is Caspia Odessa’s mother? Is Andreas her father? Is Caspia having visions of the past or a future? Emery as Odessa’s mother doesn’t make sense if she left the other land and had a young child there. Who wrote Odessa’s book? They seem like Caspia’s visions but Caspia says she has visions of the past.

I really am struggling to switch to Caspia’s POV because WHERE IS RANSOM AND WHAT DOES BROTHER DIME WANT.

But hopefully it’ll be a Mason type of situation in that I’ll start to like that POV?

And are we in the past? Is Everly somehow Odessa’s mother and the mother of a little girl and also left to have an adventure with that man but also has a much younger daughter than Odessa?

This is going in time out because I’m annoyed by the Doms who can’t keep their word (“you’ll never be alone with your father again!” Yeah right Mikki) and then get annoyed because “don’t tell me what to do little girl” when the abused girl who has to take all the bond side affects from the alpha assholes tried to set her boundaries. Fucking men.

This feels like it’s going to be a hard one to read because it is just such an oppressive atmosphere
