Terrific. Meacham’s Soul of America was an important contribution at a critical time. The American Struggle is likewise an important compilation of the best, and worst, of our great country. This book should be read in classrooms and homes in celebration of our 250th anniversary!

Given the number of pages and endnotes, this book should have been split up. In addition, the author could have easily edited out some of the minutia that adds little value and detracts from the story.

I'll finish it, but the organization and length are a real turn off.
