My books are getting glow-ups! You may have noticed my covers have been changing! A lot of them were made in the early 2010s and I love them but I'm updating them to be more contemporary.

I'm actually surprised that this is shelved as dark romance. It is not (so far?). The hero is morally grey at most and this has the gritty romantasy elements of early- mid-2000s fantasy romance books like Poison Study. I'm really enjoying the lush gothic castle setting but it's not ~dark romance~.

I have trouble reading dystopians and fantasy novels with really complicated world building, just because I'm aphantasiac and don't see things in my head when I read. I like books that are more concept- and social intrigue-heavy. This book is definitely that, and I'm loving how the interactions between the two FMCs drive the world building, which feels claustrophobic, suspenseful, and intense. I love it!
