In comparison to DCC, they both have a randomness to them that is fun, but something about this book is I’m trying to figure out what the main plot is still. Jason is now at an academy to learn how to be an adventurer, which is basically someone who hunts monsters, but he’s already got a ton of real world experience now. Is this a university book? By the end of the story will he be released into the world? Idk.

Unlike with DCC, I am able to pick up the pace on this audiobook and get through it quicker. The narrator has an Aussie accent which is still easy to understand at 1.5x since there isn’t any fancy voice acting in this. My favorite character is Gary at the moment. He’s a lionid and has the characteristics of a lion-like creature. It has nothing to do with the fact that my boyfriends name is also Gary 😆

I received this as an ARC. First chapter down and I already love the writing style. I really do enjoy the setting in the side of the mountain. It’s giving “Dunes & Magic” vibes, which is an actual section I have on my physical shelf that has a lot of Arabia inspired books. Books that are set in arid lands and have lots of magic. I see this is a novella, and more I’m absolutely excited to read the main series.

Still getting into it

So everybody has just been invited and this guy wants them to “experience” this “uninhabitable” house??? This is such a scary and creepy mission already, to learn that people lived there and had such tragic ends and then be told that the house basically had its own mind….

This book is DENSE. what is weird to me is how accurate the show is to the book. I loved the show when it was out. Now I’m curious of anything they changed and want to watch each season as I finish each of the books.

Dany went to the western market and was almost poisoned, now she’ll awake the dragons, I’m sure of it. This isn’t a spoiler if you watched the show. Everything happens exactly as in the book

Have to admit that what happens to Santos should not have happened. He was a good guy, from what we know. Caught up in all of this.

Government experiments? This give me Stranger Things vibes! At least there is an explanation for the things going on. I guess this revelation makes this a sci-fi horror.

I guess it’s easy to blame Petyr Baelish for everything. But this story is so complex.

Took some getting into. I wasn’t sure what was happening until we understand what the kid has to do with all the crazy stuff happening.

Now that Lauren Olamina is an adult, I find her character more relatable. Struggling to stay alive, the writer outlines a future in which I certainly could see it being reality should law and order cease to exist. The reason why law and order was created was so that bad things would stop happening to groups people who simply wanted peace. Social structure. What happens when it’s every man for themself again? This.

Varys finally reached out to Ned, but not before Ned’s closest lead just perished. I wonder how this will end.

One of my favorite book series of all time. But I need to finish the 4th book. I have read this one, but I forgot a lot of it. This one is so good! Now I’m itching for the next book. Once I finish it I can read the last book for the first time!

Not to mention the spinoff series with Heir and Empire… I need to catch up. Laia cannot break! Elias must be strong. Helene must be cunning… and Karis can go to Hell.

Feeling super sick today, so I’m listening on audio with the lights off and eyes closed. This is one of my favorite series to imagine.

Really pushing to finish this series this year. I want to get through Heir and Empire, too!!! This world has always been one of my favorite.

I feel like nothing has really happened this whole book. I guess I’ll finish it, but I’m glad I didn’t but this. I would have read it and promptly put it in the Free Little Library….

I am glad that Thomas is able to pick himself up in redemption of his title. He has forgiven his past and taken control of his future at the moment that he and Delphine need to be on their way to bigger and greater things.

Didn’t realize that Viv and Tandri would be a couple. Not shocked by this, but it was more surprising because it was not something that the Barnes and Noble guy mentioned. He said “cozy fantasy”. Sounded fun, but instead of buying the book, I borrowed it (quick 7 hour book? Heck yes!) Everything in this book has been pretty mellow. I had a feeling the madrigal was an old lady that liked pastries. 🥮 😅

I’m going to DNF this book. But I will say that it is interesting. There’s always so much happening with these rabbits. What I have read so far deserves 4 stars.
