Do I like this style of high fantasy writing? I’m starting to realize I don’t. I don’t want to plant anymore ideas, but i read a review where they compared this book to Name of the Wind, where the narrator tells his story and sometimes refers to the readers. I think I prefer to just be in the moment as first person character when it’s happening and remove the “reader is reading this as a diary entry”

Switched to Spotify from Libby. It’s been some time since I listened to the book so I just went back to a chapter that I remembered.

I really get into these books set in Middle East-like places… You know, with the sand, the heat, and the jinn. The lore is pretty cool and lots of books like to borrow concepts from real stories and this story expands a lot on relics and jinn creatures, so it’s interesting and fun.

Only got through the first two chapters but I like the writing style and I really hope the story blossoms from here.

By far my favorite in the series. I’m going to have to re read these again before Red God, ofc.

This book has been the best so far, imo. I really need to re-read the series one more time before Red God comes out, though.

Finally getting somewhere. I feel like the beginning of the book could have been sped up a bit now that things are really picking up in the middle and towards the end.

I’m really scared that Lysander is now in Darrow’s presence because I don’t know what’s going to happen at this point. (For some reason, Goodreads posts are acting up so I had to repost this.)

Virginia’s current situation is worrisome. I can’t believe how many people are dead. Pierce Brown includes a lot of gore in chapter 31. We have to remember that these Golds are like, 7 feet tall. I can’t imagine the size of a Gold’s foot. But there are some that want revenge these days and I’m glad I’m not one of the characters in the book who found out.

I’m committed. I already bought the next two in the series. Here is to hoping for a great story, like so many others have claimed it is. Enjoying it so far. it’s time to pick up speedboat and get through this!

I love the audiobooks for this series. Always come back to it every other year. I need to finish the series (after owning the last book for a long time), so here I am, plowing through the series once again to get to the end.
