I've read soooo many WW2 stories that I'm kind of tired of them. This story is good enough that it is holding my interest. The human struggle for both sisters is so raw and real. Trying to hold onto their identities and values yet stand up against evil in the face of incredible danger. I finally see for the first time how the Jewish round ups could happen without the French people stopping it or at least doing more.

I'm re-reading this. I want to read it with my daughter, but not sure if she will think it's too sappy. It's just so full of mind blowing truths!

Nope. I'm done. Much too graphic for me. The story gets lost in the sex and violence. Too bad, I love a good historical romance and epic story, but this has crossed the line for me.

So far I'm hanging in there, but it's not my usual fare. The writing just isn't flowing for me.

I am thoroughly enjoying this story!! It's hilarious and engaging.
