Wow, this book is so violent. It is definitely not for the tenderhearted. We have homo rectus. We have Homo sapiens. We have homo forensic and we have Australopithecus.
They are all fighting for the same spot in the jungle this one sheltered place with freshwater and natural barriers and it is brutal.

I do realize I’m moving very slowly through this one, but I have read this one before. It is not creeping me out as much as it did the first time I read it but that’s not surprising. I remember thinking the first time I read it that it was a very Gothic romance and for some reason, I’m not really getting those vibes this time.

I am enjoying this read. It’s it’s kind of a fun thing. I haven’t. I’m already 116 pages in and there really hasn’t been any spookiness or anything. There’s been a lot of talk about it but OK it’s enjoyable probably won’t be one of my favorite Stephen Kings.

Random vignettes about random people.

None of the stories so far have really stuck out to me. They’re fairly entertaining, but nothing with a major impact at this time.

I’m getting more and more involved in the story. The first chapter was a little. I was like I don’t know if this is gonna be for me, but as I read on, I’m being drawn into the story, wondering how it’s gonna go. You do have to have some kind of knowledge of the various hominids that have existed to kind of get an idea of what’s going on here.

A good start, I'm intrigued.

Interesting, oh-so-violent, but I'm not sure I "like" it, or am fascinated by it. Like watching a car crash.

Amelia Peabody and Emerson, the Father of Curses, are my favorite Egyptologists.

I'm going slow, I've decided not to rush through this book.

I'm having a hard time getting in to this story.

The writing is a lot better than I expected. Good setup, I'm interested in finding out where this goes.
