I think this is the first time I've ever seen someone confuse Swedes with Finns...

Let's try this again, shall we?

I love the Morrel family SO MUCH.

That awkward moment when you suddenly realize that the two people you've kind of been shipping are, unbeknownst to everyone but perhaps three people (including the reader), actually half-siblings. I think I just traumatized myself.

If Morrel and Valentine don't get their happy ending I'm going to devote the rest of my life to researching the art of time travel so that I may build a machine and go back in time and punch Alexandre Dumas in the eye. Also, Albert is an idiot and I strongly dislike him.

I'm beginning to suspect that Albert might be struggling with some Oedipal issues...

I am cackling with glee. This will either be the most delightful or the most awkward dinner party ever.

Have now grown used to the snarky MC. Actually kind of like him. Also, the accents in this audiobook are epic. I've already mistaken an Indian for a German, and I still have no idea where the heck Bruce is from. My brain says probably Korea, but my heart says Austria.

I don't know if I'm getting really sick of snarky MCs or if the narrator's voice is just grating on my nerves. When is comes to narrators Audible's really scraping the bottom of the snark barrel.

It just occurred to me that even though I've seen a million movie and TV adaptations of this story they all end differently, and when it all comes down to it I don't actually have any clue as to how this book ends.

The notes for this edition are hilariously snarky. "The translator clearly didn't get this reference"; "the translator misspelled this word"; "the translator obviously didn't bother checking his earlier translation (see page XX)"; "this is a downright bad translation of this phrase".

Knowing what's coming I'm feeling so bad for old Dantès right now. And, uh, Edmond too, of course. But mostly old Dantès.
