I am very disappointed in the toxic, forced, cant-help-nature "love" interest. I keep hoping it can be salvaged, but there's not much book left....

I'm on chapter 4 and it has been a steady run of her complaining and big red flags. First, I'm not quite sure why she is so absolutely scarred and horrified to have killed those fae, vs everything else about her experience. Second, I hate how she has spent all this time complaining about how she's being forced to live, but not doing anything to change it.

Ugh borrowing books of convenience.

@12: undecided ..... but I don't hate it.

@54: eh? Entertaining, but a bit ridiculous.

@29: beautiful and the general premise is interesting, but it's stalled. Now there's been a big change, so I hope that affects the pace.

S2,ep56: this has gotten super confusing.

@56: The beginning was intriguing but it really is getting more and more convoluted and uninteresting....

The basic premise is interesting, but the execution is often confusing and awkward. I'm reading it in English, though, so some of it might be translation/cultural issues....

The voice actor for Chicky is driving me crazy! She sounds quite sarcastic, even when the character is obviously not being so.

No wonder I'm so confused! I just realized that my hold for book 3 (this one!) came up before book 2. XD I'll just go over there and give that one a look-see before I continue.... >.>

I'm really enjoying this book so far. For most of the first... Half? I thought this was a collection of short stories. I enjoyed the diverse people I was introduced to who were only connected by their native blood. Then the stories began interweaving and all building towards one event: the powwow. Shits going to go down!

This book makes me want to work in/with a library! Fun tidbit I enjoyed was about Carnegie and how, growing up, he couldn't afford the $2 library fee so he donated a lot to libraries when he was old and rich.

I'm really enjoying reading this. It's awful, but wonderful-the way a B movie can be if you're lucky. Of COURSE he said "parley-vous, motherfucker" to the French guy. Of COURSE he's in love with the unavailable badass girl. And YES, I get that he's big, buff, and tough. The plot is fairly guessable as we go along, but it's presented in a ridiculous tongue-in-cheek manner that it works.

This has been a rough one to get into for me. I was excited to read a tongue-in-cheek fantasy along the lines of an Xanth novel, but this is pretty over the top. Even my 11 year old thinks so, and I would have thought the ridiculousness right up his alley. Oh well, pressing on.....

Well, so someone doesn't die in EVERY story, but they all seem to have the same grey, drizzly tone.

So much death! Are all of his stories like this??
