Like the Cipher, this is a book that feels like New York. Skin so far feels a bit like the culture of self-mutilation from the 1980’s & 90’s, an early NIN concert, some Robot Wars, and that love of art over everything else that can launch or destroy a creative. Can’t wait for the turn…

Finished J.A.W. McCarthy’s LAMAI, and where I don’t want to be consumed by a house spirit breaking its way into reality through drywall and insulation, I have often desired being consumed by an embrace—to feel like becoming one with something I love and cherish. Unsettling, yet emotionally moving.

I have been assured a cursed planet.

Chapter 38 begins: “No matter the outcome of my time on this world, the death of my mother will always remain unfinished business.”

And that is me in a sentence.

Read a fight scene as if it was narrated by Brock Sampson and now it’s all I hear in my head.

I started reading this in a fit of depression. I am a slow reader and, if you look at my currently reading list, you’ll see a few ongoing. But this is one I’ve really wanted to get into. To enjoy and study. Very pleased so far.

I’m reading The Love that Whirls by Joe Koch and I mean zero offense to anyone living or dead, but I have chosen the cadence of Vincent Price and I am delighted to no end.

I love how Hailey Piper and Eric LaRocca’s opening entries to this anthology show the dangerous side of yearning and succumbing to passion, for both monsters and victims. A Twilight Zone warning on lust.

I dig SGJ’s voice. I knew someone that Shaney reminds me of. I can feel the fear of unraveling if you let someone else in on your crazy thoughts. I am happy to be reading this book, even though something hella violent just happened. That’s when it’s good, though, right? When you need to look away, but keep coming back…
