Cathy is finished with The Grave Man (Sam Prichard #1)
A tongue in cheek take off on the Sam Spade era mysteries. Sam Prichard is a wounded cop, who has maintained his good relationships in the department. When he begins to take on private cases, these relationships become vital. A great hard-boiled detective tale, don't look to me for details, I hate spoilers. don't you?

Excited to be reading a Lawrence Block, available for the first time in 50 years. I enjoy his later ooks so much, I just have to delve into his early writing years, even if it is billed as "The Scorching Pulp Novel!" If you are unfamiliar with Lawrence Block, his novls range from crime noir to humourous bungling, "well-meaning" burglars who stumble into something much worse. More later on this aspect.

Cathy is finished with House of Stone: A Memoir of Home, Family, and a Lost Middle East
Finished. Enjoyed, with a melancholy feel for home & family. What makes our heritage so much a part of ourselves, & why it is so important to explore the roots of our being? An arduous, reflective, soul-searching journey that travels back and forth between his adopted American home and his birth home. Intricately woven, touchingly remembered, at times tedious, a moving tribute to the lives ripped apart by war.

Cathy is reading Is It Just Me?: Or Is It Nuts Out There?
So funny & so familiar - the situations are the kind that happen to everyone, either all the time or at least once. The difference is that we did not write the book - and no one can turn a phrase quite like the delightful Whoopi Goldberg. So unapologetically honest and open, Whoopi knows when to take a stand and when to throw up her arms and say "Well, what the h**? I'll tell you. .." But always with charm great wit

ROFL. You will find yourself shaking your head, thinking, "So true" or "That's so right!" at the same time falling off your chair laughing @Whoopi's delightful way with words.
